When we got back on board – I received a text from Sheila, there was a lei making class about to start – and she wanted to know if we wanted to meet her there. I asked the girls, of course they did. J So we made our way down there. The girls really enjoyed making their own leis. I didn’t make one, I simply removed the stems from their flowers as they made theirs.
Their finished product.
I think they did a good job. J
When we were heading out, Sheila asked if we had dinner plans, I told her – but they had gone to Moderno’s the night before. We did talk about trying to have dinner together at some point later in the cruise.
The girls & I went back to our stateroom, they showed off their leis to their father. And then we headed down for dinner.
Okay. . if you are a meat eater this is the place for you. If you are a foodie, you might enjoy the salad bar. But for me, it wasn’t a good choice. They had a salad bar, but it had things like “potato salad with mango juice”.
Basically there was the fancy salad bar. And the server would bring you small pots (very small) of garlic mashed potatos, black beans, and fried bananas. You would turn your "chip" (looks like a coaster) to green if you wanted the meat carvers to stop at your table, red if you did not. And the meat carvers walked around with a variety of meats. Ribs, steak, chicken, lamb, sausage.
I did eat a small bite of someone’s filet mignon as it was super tender & I had a chicken drumstick that was amazing. So I really do think if you eat meat, this is a great choice. But come hungry. Nikkia took good care of us – and again Thomas showed up to make sure everything was good.
John headed back to the stateroom while we waited to sign for our meal. After we signed for the drinks, the girls & I headed out - we followed the exit sign, and found ourselves at the back of the ship. . .where there was a bar. Our butler, Marc was at the bar alone. He said this was the best bar on the ship, and I asked if they were the ones that served La Cucina and Modernos as we had the best drinks there. The bartender asked "are you the White Russians, I heard they really raved about our drinks". I told her we were indeed the "white russians" LOL We talked a bit about how good this particular bar was, and then Marc helped us find our way out because we were lost. He said that Modernos was a recent addition to this ship, and the exit signs have not been corrected yet. J Glad he was there to help us out.
When we were back in our room after dinner – Mickie fell asleep. I then got a text from Sheila asking if we were going up on deck to watch the lava sail by. I told her no, that we were going to watch it from our balcony, I asked her if she wanted to join us and they said yes as she wanted to see what a suite looked like anyhow. We tried to wake Mickie but had no luck – so we moved her into the bedroom and shut the door and curtains.
When they got there we called Marc, the butler and had some beer delivered. We already had wine that came with the stateroom as well. We all sat out on the balcony drinking and watching the water go by. We had a really nice time.
Now the lava flow is something everyone wants to see. . .and sometimes it is flowing and sometimes now. We were suppose to be lucky as it was flowing. But it is really hard to see. . .as it is very small and pretty far away. Even fully zoomed it doesn't look as spectacular as I was expecting it too.
My other pics are pretty blurry. My camera with the biggest lense wouldn't even take a pic as it was too dark.
Okay, so that was our evening. After Sheila and her family left we called it a night. We made sure the oldest son, Austin, took the champagne with him. He said he had wanted to win some to take to the White Hot Party the ship was having later in the week.
Tomorrow as another early day.
