How soon can you make reservations for character meals?

I think you can start making reservations 180 days out. If you are staying on property you can make up to 10 days of reservations 180 days from your check-in date. You do need reservations for the Fireworks dessert party. I've never been, so I have no advice on whether it is worth it or not. I tried to get a reservation for our trip this past week, but never could find an opening. I'm not sure they even had it this past week, as the Terrace cafe was closed the day we did MK.

Yes, that's right; you can make them 180 days out.

Yes, M'Shel is right - we did the Dessert Party last year. It seems to be offered pretty regularly now and you should be able to book at 180 days out. Space is limited so if you're interested, I would call at that 180 day mark. I don't know if you would find openings for the dessert party if you waited and walked up.

AllEars is listing the price at $21.99 for adults/$11.99 for children. I know it sounds like a lot for desserts but it was a nice splurge. We really enjoyed the great view of Wishes - you could see Tinker Bell fly overhead pretty clearly. And it was absolute heaven to be able to sit and watch the fireworks - we have a hard time, even with my two older girls (10 and 13), standing in a packed crowd waiting for Wishes. We were able to check in early (they gave us wristbands), we had a table waiting for us with our name on it when we were ready to relax.

My advice to you is to go hungry!!! LOL We had a lovely dinner at Narcoossee's for my bdy on the evening of our Dessert Party. Our server surprised us with a complimentary bdy dessert which we had to try. Even though my ADR wasn't that late, we still weren't hungry enough to enjoy all the goodies at the Dessert Party. And there were lots of yummies! My kids don't like fancy sweets so they stuck with basic cookies and brownies b/c there were lots of fancy desserts - but all yummy!

Again, it's nice for a splurge - not something I'd do every trip but I would definitely do it again.

I know what you mean about trips with just your family. We used to take every vacation (including non-Disney ones) with someone else - my family, his family, friends. Then one day we had a Disney trip planned and it was just us. We thought we'd be going crazy after a while but it was very nice and we've gotten used to it being just us most of the time :) It's still nice when our family or friends join us but there's something special about those trips when it's only the 4 of us that have all those special memories together :)
