We are planning a February 2008 trip. I thought we had decided to stay to WL, BUT... I put the Disney Planning DVD in today to watch with the kids and when AK Lodge came up my husband said "I am going to love staying there.".. I said "You told me you did not want to stay there and wanted WL"... He said "No, you are wrong...."...haha...

SOOOOOOO... back to the drawing board... Which one would you pick? We also watched the info about the Poly and that one looks great too....I know you can take the boat to MK from WL. I know the monorail goes through the Poly... What about AK Lodge?

Which one would you pick?

Here are my thoughts from someone who has only been to DW once back in 1977 and we stayed at a Days Inn! LOL! But from all my research and looking through all the options, I would go with either Poly or WL. Just for convenience of being so close to Epcot and MK. At AK Lodge you have to take a bus to all the parks. But I would love to be able to hop on the boat or monorail... it's like a ride before you even get to the park! Although dh has these fantasies of sitting on a balcony at AKLodge sipping coffee and watching the animals from our room. But, with three little kids, when are we going to sip coffee and relax?

If I were going to pick between WL and Poly I would pick WL just because it is newer and I love the theming there.

Hi There... While I have yet to go to Disney, these 2 hotels (plus the Poly) were the ones we were going back and forth about as well.

We stayed in AKL when we went in Nov and it is a really neat experience.

Well, imho, with children, in February, I would definitely pick the Poly and here's why...it is super easy to get to Magic Kingdom and even to Epcot via the monorail system ( you can take the interpark monorail from the Transportation center) and to get to MGM you can take a boat from the World Showcase side of Epcot...on a non-park day, its fun just to ride the monorail with the kids anytime of day. While it is great to see the animals at AK, it IS far from everything except the Animal Kingdom Park...so, if you plan on spending alot of time there, this would be a good choice. Otherwise, its really far from all the other parks, so you've got to plan on bus rides or car trips. WL although it has a boat from the MK, its a small boat...so if its crowded, you may be waiting a while. Our experience with the buses from WL have not been pleasant...long waits to every park. I'd rather stay at the Poly, and go to the AK and WL for dinners...Boma at AK(YUMMY) and Whispering Canyon at WL (FUN and yummy)...and have the convenience of the monorail for all others. If its cold in February, I'd rather run to the monorail than wait for a bus or a boat...but maybe that's just me. HTH...Suzanne
