To dine or not to dine?

Just getting started on trip planning for next February.  There will be 4 of us (DH, DS (12), DD (8) and we'll be there about 5 days. My dear family is a pack of "grazers" -- they eat very few big meals, and instead like to eat smaller things often.   On any given day, DS can clean out a pantry in 15 minutes while DD won't eat enough to keep a bird alive.  DH will just eat small things all day long -- a sandwhich here, a bowl of pasta there, and a late night single taco.  We are likley to do breakfast in the room, lighter snacks during the day, and 1 larger meal daily, with a character meal somewhere along the way.  With that pattern, would you recommend dining plan?  Or is that a waste?  Having never used it, I can't really tell. TIA for the help.

I don't think I would use the dining plan, especially with your daughter being considered an adult on the DDP! We eat big meals and DH and I eat few, if any snacks. It sounds like you guys would do well with some of the smaller offerings WDW has to offer throughout the parks. Do you know about They have all the menus and prices for every place in WDW to give you an idea the what you can get and will spend...

You will probably be better off paying out of pocket, but check the menus online.

We did the dining plan once (for a long weekend trip) and it was SO MUCH FOOD!!! I wouldn't really recommend it for anyone, unless your main priority is pre-paying for meals. That part sure is nice! Otherwise, there is no way we would have spent that much on food, using our normal eating. We ate way more and picked more expensive restaurants (which was fun) - just so we'd be sure we came out "ahead" on the cost.
