I know there are tons of off-site hotels but I was just wondering. They're part of our timeshare exchange and the price is great and it looks like there should be plenty of space for the 6 of us: me, dh, dd21 & her bf, dd20 and dd15. Plus there's the kitchen & laundry facilities to save us on dining & luggage (except for shoes -- you know how girls are, tsk LOL).

Wow, thank you for the quick reply!

Even though it's called "Star Island Resort" your post makes me think it's more of a basic hotel. Do you agree? Just wondering ... we had a choice (all off-site), and that was the closest to the Parks. The web-site makes it look more resort-like.

I'm wondering how to get an on-site accomodation through Interval? Is it totally the luck of the draw? That's so unfair :(. I want to go back in three or so years ...

The resort was better than an average hotel, but it still seemed a little run down and not as nice as it was made to be in the video or on the website.

Thanks so much for the info! I like knowing what to expect. I was hoping that it wasn't SO nice that I'd want to spend time there rather than at DW LOL.

And because there are so many accomodations in and around ALL the area parks, I am still a little surprised that anyone on this board stayed there, let alone heard of it LOL.

I just wrote this whole post to you and lost it! Darn Florida thunderstorms! Anyway, just stayed there last month. I really like it. Its definitely better than a basic hotel! Although its not 5 star luxury....its very nice...its perfect for families. Its large and clean and has a great pool area with music, games, nighttime entertainment. Lots of activities to do! There's every restaurant imaginable within a 5 minute drive. I prefer to stay offsite myself. Its more reasonable, love the kitchen, love the space to spread out. Disney maingate is about a 10 minute drive. Have a great time!

Wow, it sounds like we made a good choice. My only concern staying off-site is that since my kids are older (21, 20 & 15), if they want to go to a park on their own, (none of them drives yet) there would be much more limited transportation available for them, but it sounds like dh made a good choice.
