AP Trip 9 - Day 2 - Part 3
Wed, 12-05-2012 - 9:46pm

After we finished the safari, the kids wanted to see It's Tough To Be A Bug.  Which is crazy.  We went once - a couple of years ago? - and they hated it.  Somehow, they managed to forget that.  Okay, let's go.  They were fine as it got started, but it went downhill from there.  Behind us a couple of rows, a kid started screaming non-stop at the beginning of the show, which ruined it for me anyway.  (They finally took him out about halfway through.)  Well, Megan (especially) hates bugs, so I have no idea what she was thinking.  She survived, but not well.  I hate the part where the wasp (?) stings you in the back.  Let's hope we don't have to go to that again for at least a couple more years.   :)

Then we went to the Bone Yard.  Another first!  It's so strange to me that after we've been there so many times that there are still things we haven't tried!  So the kids played for a while there.  Just on the side with slides.  They didn't make it to the dig area.  (There's a dig area, right?  I'm not really an expert on this.)  It was becoming lunch time, so it was time to move on.

As usual at AK, we went to Restaurantasaurus.  (Wow - that's a bundle to type - no idea if I spelled it correctly!)

Then the kids wanted to ride Primeval Whirl.  Because who doesn't want to spin right after they eat???  We waited in line (instead of getting a FastPass) - maybe 15 minutes?  I think they had both sides of the ride going.  It was fine again.  I don't get why the kids like it so much.  They asked to ride again, so we grabbed a FP, but we didn't commit.  DH was actually talking about face paints (they're right there), but the line was really long.  Of course, he mentioned it, so then the kids wanted to do it RIGHT NOW.  There was some hemming and hawing at this point.  I think the wait for FP was only about 30 minutes, so we decided to ride that, then leave AK for the day.

Somehow we ended up at Downtown Disney.  And I wish I could remember why, exactly.  Maybe it was because they have face paint.  And food.

So, we never really buy the kids much of anything at Disney.  Face paints every couple of trips.  Not really any "stuff", though.  Well, this trip, I thought we'd buy them something.  I was thinking about $30-ish.  Which turned into a LONG browse through World of Disney.  DH got super antsy.  But the kids were pretty good.

Megan decided on a face paint and a hair clip (pink fake hair on a mickey head).  Allison wanted sweat pants.  Which is really weird, because we don't really wear sweat pants.  But that's what she got in her head, so we found her some.

Both of them with their spoils, although I don't see Megan's hair clip.

We ate at Wolfgang Puck Express (I think that's the best value for your $$ at Disney!) and looked around just a little.  I think DH wanted to get back to the hotel to watch a football game.  Boys!  :)

Kind of an odd day.  Really, we were just killing time until Sunday's visit to the Food & Wine Festival.  Priorities, you know!

They look so happy with their choices!!!  Our AK trips really did sound similar this time around, lol. I'm not sure there really is a dig site.  We've been three times (four if I count with my nephew and infant Gabi) and I've never noticed it.

We have only made it to AK twice, for some reason that is the day my family tends to boycott.   I do think there is a dig site though, as I think I remember one from Emmy's (Junebug) trip report.

I have never even attempted It's Tough Being a Bug.   From all the reports it doesn't sound like a great show for kids.   I wonder why Disney doesn't alter it a bit.

Megan's face paint is beautiful!   That is one of those things my DDs always seem to beg for too.

Ok, I am literally LOL that you have never been to the Boneyard!  There is no way we'd make it out of AK without going there.  In fact I was almost disappointed in 2010 when Mitchell was "too old" to do it with Meredith :(  I say almost because Ken and I have always hated this area for 2 reasons.  1. It is always hot when we're there, and 2. We are bored to death!

And let me just say to Melissa and Deb that I can't believe that you don't know that yes, there IS a dig area LOL!  Another thing I *hate* about the Boneyard Smile.  Then the kids can never seem to get those little, bitty pebbles out of their shoes for the rest of the day.  And the last couple of times we did it, the CM's wouldn't let the kids take their shoes off like they used to.  So I'm still shocked that none of y'all have done that!  When my kids were younger, it was their favorite thing at AK.

Love the face paint!  She picked good colors for her skin tone/hair color :)
