1st time to WDW (m)
| Mon, 07-17-2006 - 9:13am |
This is my 1st time to Disney World along with DH and our boys (6yr & 9yr).
We'll only be going to the MK for 1 day on trip in Feb. 18-23, 2007.
What is the most important things I need to know from you all?
I've read everything i could get my hands on and the internet has some awesome sites too.
TIA
Julie

Its going to be hard to do WDW on just one day so I'd make sure and make a list of the things you really want to do and see and USE THE FASTPASS!! I cannot stress that enough. You'll get to go on more rides and see more things if you get another fastpass as soon as the time says you can.

I know you said you found some sites, but just to make sure, the best one out there is http://allearsnet.com
You're going at a VERY busy time..this is both Pres Day week AND Mardi Gras next year, so expect lines. It probably won't be summer busy, but it will be busy. Weather should be nice, though. Make sure you utilize Fast Pass as much as you can, and avoid criss-crossing the park whenever possible.
If you don't plan on seeing the afternoon parade, use that time to explore Fantasyland which is unaffected by the parade route.
I would say the best days (as typical) for MK are Tues & Wed, but I think the 2 holidays may affect both of those days.
Just plan for crowds & lines...let each person pick 3 "must sees" and work on those and let everything else be BONUS.
Happy planning!

I agree with Melissa about the FastPass. Use it as often as you are able. The other thing I highly suggest is arrive at the MK AT LEAST 30 minutes before opening. That way, you are ahead of the majority. Then hit the major attractions first (Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Dumbo). If possible, send someone to one of the other rides to get a FP, then ride one of the more popular rides.
You should definitely make a list of the attractions that are must ride. Then decide what are your 2nd choices.
Are you interested in a character meal? Your choices at MK are Crystal Palace (Pooh and friends) or Liberty Tree Tavern. I don't think your boys would be interested in Cinderella and her friends at the castle, but if so, you should get on the phone 180 days out to make ADRs for lunch (breakfast is very hard to get).
Like Alysha, I think your best days are Tues, Wed or Thurs. Stay away from Monday! We did that one year, and the crowds were 3 times what they were anywhere else.
If possible, take advantage of extra magic hour days. I think the 3 extra hours at night would be better than the extra hour in the morning.
HTH!
