Two questions...the build a dino part...since it is the build a bear company would they honor build a bear gift cards?
Also, Is this one on the disney dining plan...and if so it would be a TS meal right?
We have been to both. They are very similar, just different themes: T-Rex is dinosaurs and Rainforest Cafe is Rainforest (obviously). If you have already been to Rainforest and you have any dino fans, I would definitely recommend trying T-Rex. The restaurant is quite large, and very noisy, but we weren't going for an intimate dinner. The food was good and seems similar to rainforest as well. They have different themed rooms as well, I think we were in the ice age room or something like that. They have a gift shop and a digging area (we didn't go to the digging area; seemed like a glorified sandbox for the kids to play in while you waited for your table). I believe they take reservations 6 months in advance. They also have a "Build-a-Dino" area of the gift store. It's just like Build-a-Bear, same company and everything. So, we HAD to build 4 dinos and that got a little pricey. Overall good experience. We had a large party of 12; kids ages 7 and 5 (boys); 6, 2 and 9 months (girls).Definitely worth trying at least once. We will go again on future trips.
Here's the official website... http://www.trexcafe.com/
It's a Landry's restaurant just like Rainforest Cafe' and Yak and Yeti.
I've not been to both, but maybe these reviews will help you.
There are some videos on www.youtube.com if you search on "T-rex restaurant downtown disney".
I don't have any dinosaur fans in my family, so we didn't try it. I'm undecided as to whether or not my youngest would be freaked out, based upon what I just saw on Youtube.com. If you DO have a dino fan, it looks like a neat place!
