Any NOT do Fantasmic?

Has anyone not done Fantasmic while at MGM? My DDs will be 3 (will turn 4 while we're there) and 5 1/2. It seems like I've read a lot about the waiting... waiting for the tickets, getting in early to get a seat, etc... I'm just not sure they will be up for all that waiting... and the show is at 8 that night...we are on the dining plan and don't want to use 2 credits, as we're using 2 for the castle....Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!
TIA!

It's a Table Service Credit on the Disney Dining Plan that you can use when you stay on site....
HTH!

We were there just one month ago...the first night at MGM we had an ADR for Mama Melrose with the Fantasmic dinner pkg...LOVE Mama Melrose...very filling like someone else mentioned.
I think that sounds perfect! We're not big fans of Primetime...but that's just us. Lots of people like it.
Enjoy!!!

Oh, one more note about seating - even though most people will be trying to get close, the BEST seats in the house (we've seen it from several different areas now) are in the very back of the middle section. The further back you are, the more you get to catch all that's going on. Sitting in the front is sort of like sitting in the front of a movie theatre, you can't really see the whole thing, ya know?
ENJOY!!!!!
hi Veronique,
I guess I'm a little different than most. We're going in August and are planning to do just about everything BUT Fantasmic...I saw it once before, in 2000...and it just, well, didn't do anything for me. So on our MGM we're simply planning on doing other attractions in the evening while people start the Fantasmic seat-and-wait...then leaving the park right after it starts, to minimize the bus wait back to the resort. I know - heresy!! But that's our plan.
Also, in 2000 when we went, I was on a wheelchair due to a sprained ankle (yeah, timely huh? did it one day before we left! ouch!) and this meant we got one of those supposedly best seats: back row close to the center, without waiting even that long...the show still didn't wow me, all the characters seemed so small and far away (especially the ones on the boats, but even Mickey) compared to seeing them, say, at the live stage shows at the MK or at the meet and greets...and the 'water screen' was just that, a screen where they projected scenes from many Disney movies. Sooooooo at the risk of being kicked out of the board (LOL, except they know what a Disney freak I am otherwise!) you can see my opinion on this goes in the other direction! Since you asked!! :)
As far as restaurants go...that's another story: Do you want good food? Or the 'experience'? (Yeah, sorry, you have to choose!) If you're doing the Fantasmic Dinner package, from the three choices for those, only the Brown Derby takes 2 meals, so rule that one out and you still have 2 "OK-to-good" choices on both counts (food and ambience), H&V and Mama Melrose's, if you look at the menus and descriptions at allears you can get a pretty good idea about what to expect from each. Best luck deciding!
Hi again Veronique,
We usually skipped it since Victoria is usually tired.
>>only the Brown Derby takes 2 meals,<<
And at the risk of them kicking me off the board...I don't like Bown Derby at ALL. Now, my hubby loves it, but their kids' selections aren't great so dd couldn't find anything but mac & cheese to eat (and she'd already had that 2 other places that week) and for me the adult food was too, well, fancy. I mean it's really gourmet, which means new & different flavors, and not willing to make a lot of changes or substitutions. I'm just way too picky for that kind of dining, rofl.
Good luck, whatever you decide to do!
