Anyone planning a trip to DL soon?

I just found out that it will be "Gay Days" during the time I will be at DL and while I have no issues with homosexuality, I did happen to see some pretty lewd behavior that went on this past year at WDW for Gay Days on The O'Reilly Factor.

Anyone ever visit during this time? They expect an additional 25,000 people on those days which I am definitely not happy about. (longer lines) I think that Disney should alert people to that fact because I would have chose to go on a much less crowded weekend.

Gay Days is not a Disney sponsered event, that's why they won't alert the crowds or have information about it on their site.

Attendance will also be raise due to the Latin Festival at DCA.

I have not gone at this time but there are quick a few threads about it on mouseplanet and disney sites to that affect.

When is this? I planned our visit in October so, I hope, the crowds would be smaller.

October 3rd - 5th. It is also the last weekend of the Fiesta Latina and ALSO the weekend that the Haunted Mansion Holiday opens.

Saturday is GayDay at Disneyland, and Sunday is GayDay at DCA. You are supposed to wear a red shirt to signify that you are gay. (This is from what I have read at the gayday2 site)

I guess I feel Disney should list it in the same way that the Anaheim Convention Bureau lists the conventions.

I think the reason Disney doesn't list it (at DL OR WDW) is because Disney has nothing to do with the event or the event sponsors. They are simply paying guests in town for a convention and visit Disney on one day. My dad had a Cisco convention in Lake Buena Vista last year and one evening they all went to MGM, but Disney didn't mention it anywhere, because they had nothing to do with the convention.

I have been there during Gay Days or whatever it is called. We usually go from Sun-Tues. so we hit the end of it. I never saw any lewd behavior while there ,and the lines weren't very long. Besides...now they have fast passes for more of the popular rides...so if you work it just right you don't have any long waits.

Good luck and have a fun trip! :)

Not only are they not affiliated with the convention, but they're not able to "warn" other guests of it by announcing it because of the threat of lawsuits.

Did you know that in years past, not lately, Disney used to offer people that were in "family" groups a free t-shirt if they had a red one on? I thought that was interesting! But they had to stop that because of discrimination lawsuits, too. (Not a bad idea to wear a red shirt just to get a free shirt...lol)

I did see the videos of the lewd acts that were going on at MGM. And that was during regular park hours.

I didn't know that about the shirts, that's pretty neat, even if they did have to stop it. The lack of *warning* due to lawsuitis is almost a given in this day and age. As for the videos of lewd behavior, I've seen it from heterosexual couples as well, it's just not publicized. And thankfully it's not near as bad at Disney as it is at other parks like 6 flags. Either way, if you're behaving in a way that needs to be behind closed doors..... GET A ROOM! rofol.

I agree! Family parks are not the place for that behavior no matter who you are!
