Can someone explain about AP room rates and the dining package?

My sister is planning a trip to WDW and she planned on purchasing an AP if discounted rates come out (yes, she understands, no guarantees) but her TA told her that she couldn't combine an AP discounted room with the dining package (I'm not talking about a free dining promotion, she wanted to pay for the dining plan) Is this true? Does that mean that AP holders can't take advantage of the dining package? That doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

Has anyone come up against this? She went through a recommended Disney Specialist TA. Also the TA told her that she could get her the AAA discount on the room, but not the tickets, but if she booked the whole thing through AAA she would get the discount on the MYW tix as well. Again, this sounds peculiar - any comments?

TIA

You can not combine an AP rate and the dining plan. The reason is that the AP rates are room only and dining can only be booked as part of a package deal. Packages include at minimum room and 1 day tickets.

Sonya answered your questions, but I wanted to give you a link for some information for your sister if she is NOT going during a free dining promotion...

Unfortunately that is correct. I have been an annual passholder for seven years and you can't get the DDP with it. It's fine for us since we live close and take day trips (like this Saturday) but when we stay for a few days, it would be nice to have the option.
