Best character breakfasts?

My DH and I are taking our 2 DS ages 8 and 6 to WDW in April. Can anyone recommend any good character breakfasts? I hear that I should make reservations now. I never have been to Disney with kids plus it was 1997 since my DH and I were there so everything has changed.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi, and welcome!

It might depend on what characters your boys like. Our favorite character breakfast is at the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom, but the characters are Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore. My boys are younger and they love it, but yours might be too old for those characters, or think they are (I'm 30 and I love them!).

Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary resort is another one we really like. That's Mickey and his friends, I'm thinking Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy, but don't quote me on that.

'Ohana at the Polynesian resort is one that's on our list for our May trip. It's Lilo and Stitch, and I think Mickey and someone else. I've read good things about it also, but haven't tried it yet.

Donald's Breakfastsaurus at the Animal Kingdom is another one we like. It's Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and I think Pluto. It gets mixed reviews, but we've had a great experience twice and will likely do it again.

For the breakfasts inside the parks, I prefer to get an ADR (advanced dining reservation) for as early as possible before the park opens, and we usually finish breakfast right as the park is opening.

There are others, but these are the ones we enjoy.

Hope this helps, stick around and ask away!

I've never been for breakfast, but I bet your boys would like Chef Mickey's (Mickey and gang) We do dinner there every trip (it's our first night tradition) and our boys love it there (they are 11 and 7). There is something about being in the Contemporary, with the monorail zooming through...and the whole Chef Mickey's atmosphere. It's very "Disney"!!

We have the Crystal Palace scheduled for breakfast in May. It's the Pooh gang. We've been there once before...a LONG time ago when my oldest was 2. My kids really aren't into Pooh, but I like him, and it was my way of getting us up and into the Magic Kingdom before the park opens. We've never gotten to the MK before park opening, so this will be fun!

We ate at Donald's Breakfastasaurus in the AK once, and we didn't care for it at all. I don't like the set up of the restaurant, and the food was just not good. The characters only came around once, and we nearly missed them because we went up for food. And the service (our server anyway) stunk. No refills on beverages or coffee...not good in my book!

Let's see...my DH and I did the Cape May buffet once and that was nice. Food was good, characters were good.

I think those are the only character breakfasts we've done.

Good luck deciding!

Are you stuck on breakfast, or would any meal be ok?
