Booking res myself vs TA??

Last year we booked our res thru a local disney specialist which still charged us a fee for doing so....

Is there any disadvantage in doing myself vs a travel agent?

Yous houldn't have been charged a fee. Even before I became a TA, all of the agencies I looked at using and/or did use never charged a fee and Iwas always told - if they charge a fee, keep looking.

That said - there is nothing that I or another TA could do for you that you really couldn't do yourself. We get the same rates and access to codes, some agencies that specialize in Disney are better about getting information in a timely manner to their agents about codes etc than others are. But really the codes and discounts

I booked mine through Sonya on the board here and there wasn't a fee involved. I gave her a list of my preferences for lodging and dining

Dina,

You really need to go with your gut feeling there. I have booked the previous three vacations with a travel agent. My dh told me our last trip should have been done on our own because I was telling the travel agent stuff instead of the other way around. The trip I have coming up is all on my own as well as the one we are taking in June. I think you have to figure out what control you need and move on from there............

btw, there is a lovely travel agent I know her name is Sonya, and always seems to have the current up to date info!

Dina,

Good luck on the dining thing. I just can't get into planning our meals right now. I am waiting for now. I do know where we are staying and I do have 2 character meals planned. That is it. When are you going?

Natalie,

I am so bad....we don't leave until June 5 for 9 nights! A bit anxious huh! lol

I think we'll just concentrate on the character dining for now to be sure we get in.

Hey no problem! We just might "see" you there. :) It sounds like some of our days will overlap. ;)

We were thinking Mama Melrose's as well, but dh wants to return to Hollywood and Vine. I am having a hard time convincing him to try new places. He has given me carte blanche on our upcoming trip maybe I should just make the adr's and he can take what I choose.......

OK, I'm butting in here Natalie.....just an FYI, in case you didn't know. If you do Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic package, as of now you can order from the regular menu instead of the "special" menu they used to have.

Steph, now butting back out
