Buy or Bring Rain Ponchos?

Our trip is late August and we are expecting the daily afternoon rain shower. What are your thoughts on the Disney ponchos? What is the cost? Do they have a size for small children (age 4, 6 and 9)? Is the quality good? I don't want to buy ponchos on the first day and have them be torn and ruined after 2 or 3 days.
My other option is to buy some better quality ones from home specifically made for kids. I found some nice ones online that are $15-$20 a piece. I thought these might be a good investment for a good quality reuseable rain poncho.
The dollar store ones are super cheap and throw away style... definitely won't last a week in August in Florida in my opinion.
Thoughts? Buy there or bring better ones from home?
Thanks.
Laura

I didn't worry about ponchos when we were there.
We don't mess with ponchos either, but I believe they were $7. I did buy a Mickey umbrella, but ponchos just bug me for some reason! They did look like they were pretty good quality, but I wouldn't want to have to mess with folding them and putting them somewhere to take around the parks in case of rain.
We went in late August in 2005 and had about an hour of rain every day. It was nice, it cleared out the parks!
I've been wondering the same thing and here's what we plan to do (we're going EARLY August though and hoping for less rain...but it might happen!)
I'm taking a few dollar store ones and hoping for the best! (One per person for maybe 3 days' worth) If we do encounter rain we'll play it by ear and see how necessary they are. IF we run out, AND IF we find them absolutely necessary, we'll invest in Disney ones to keep. But hopefully we'll make do with the little dollar ones, 'cause the idea of wiping those things dry and folding 'em back up is NOT something I look forward to doing!
I'm guessing it would also depend on what park you're at when the rain strikes. I could see spending the entire time it's raining in places like Innoventions at Epcot, for example, without ever worrying about it...But especially at the MK I'd think ponchos would come in handy!
We took and used dollar store ponchos on our last September trip in 2005 and I plan to take them again this year.
I took a big ziploc bag to stuff them into if we no longer needed them (we took them on and off several times a day for mostly short periods) and at the end of each day I shook them out well, hung them on the towel rail or on the washing line over the bath and they were ready to go again by the next day.
The WDW poncho's looked nice and were definitely better quality, but at around $7.00 each for 3 of us I decided to go with the dollar store ones, which held up well enough and if they had got ripped or lost it wouldn't have been something that really bothered me.

I would have to say use the ones from the dollar store.
DH and I bought ponchos on our first trip....I think they were $6 or $7 each, and they were good quality. We only used them once....bought them because we were all the way at the back of MGM during a late-night torrential downpour that just wouldn't stop and we didn't want our camera to get wet! Every other time it's rained when we've been down there, we just deal with it by finding something to do inside to pass the time. Florida rain showers seem to come and go quickly, so you don't necessarily need rain gear. It's just up to you and your feelings about getting wet! LOL
