>>Typhoon Lagoon begins its annual winter closure on October 28. It should reopen in January 2008, when Blizzard Beach closes for its winter break.<<
I read this on themouseforless.com. Does this mean that Typhoon Lagoon won't even be open during Xmas week? If so, our only water-park choice is Blizzard Beach? Anyone know from experience?
TIA, Disney rockers :D.

Oh...okay..sorry!
Well, this was December and the temps were perfect, which means chilly in the rain, so we weren't doing flip-flops..lol.

How old is she?
I know that sounds really rude, but my grandma (passed away 2 years ago, but was almost 90) would NOT for anything turn on the AC during the day (we live in south Louisiana!). She would turn it on to go to bed though. Actually, she had congestive heart failure episodes a few times BECAUSE she was so stubborn. Mike was so miserable at her house (sinus issues), but always wanted to make sure to visit her. He says that's why I'm always cold (I lived with her after my mom died).
But, it's a mentality of those that have been around for so long--she was of a good age during the Great Depression and was an adult during WWII. They lived so long without that they don't realize that they need to do these things.

Off topic I know, but I'm going to guess you were near Sun City Center.
No, not rude though. She's only in her 70's, but it's that frugal attitude that prevails. They lived their whole lives (prior to retirement) with no a/c at all at home, just fans! They also had electricity bills only for lights and electric, but natural gas for heat & hot water. So after moving to FL, their whole house is electric, and the size of the bills startle them. They really CAN afford them, especially that they remember they have NO gas bills!
My sister and I are arguing over this a/c issue right now re. our parents, and dh & BIL have their input too. Mom and Dad's house was built in 1967 with central air, but they never used it the right way -- you're supposed to turn it on and leave it on, and adjust the temperature using the thermostat. But my folks are older than most of my peers' parents, plus grandmom lived with them so perhaps her even older-than-depression mentality added to their depression attitude of wanting to turn it off whenever no one was home and turn it back on for dinner-time & overnight :::sigh:::. So eventually when the central unit stopped working efficiently, long after sis & I were out of the house, they put a window unit in their bedroom but nothing anywhere else in the house. Now that window unit is going, and sis thinks they should have the central system rehauled. My dh says that at 91, why bother, just put window units in the bedroom & kitchen; they don't really live in any other rooms ... well maybe my old bedroom where Dad goes to watch different tv channels than Mom (who watches in their bedroom). I hate to make any decisions like this so I'm letting Dad decide.
Raising parents is so difficult sometimes ::wink::.

Oh my goodness, Shay, that's exactly the one ROFLMBO! But there are so many retirement areas between Tampa & Sun City Center, however did you guess? I am amazed at your powers of deduction :D.
Last year we drove to see St. Pete's one day; gorgeous beaches! One year we hope to stay over for a regular visit.
