Wow! I'm happy to have found this board! I've participated on ivillage, off and on, for EIGHT YEARS and didn't know this board existed!! Of course, I stuck to the debates for a long time, but anyway....

Do the parks allow you to take in a couple of water bottles in your backpack? I know, basically, that food/drink is not allowed, but just thought I'd ask the experts if, maybe, they let water bottles slide...

Thanks!

Yes, they do. Just make sure it's not glass bottles.

You may want to consider getting a Brita bottle. They cost about $7 (Wal-mart sells them in the section that sells the Brita filters for your house--around the lightbulbs & ceiling fans), but have a filter in them so you can use water from the drinking fountains in the parks...you can also get free ice. But having a bottle or a few bottles like this will be a lot easier on your load because they will be empty.

Oh, and they have several different designs, too, so you can buy different ones and not get them confused with each other.

Has anyone bought a Brita bottle lately? I was looking online a few weeks ago and found a website stating that the Brita bottles were no longer being made. I assumed this was legit so I quit looking for them. I think I looked at our Wal-mart too and couldn't find one, but who knows, out here in the sticks our store may not carry them. Let me know if they are still available.

That is a good idea! I've never had a problem, but I'm always a little leery about those public drinking fountains ;-)

AT disney they also sell those 'around your neck/over your shoulder' thingys you can hang a water bottle on. If you can find them ahead of time at a walmart/walgreens type place, they'll be cheaper.

Also..the official rule may be not to bring in food, but I've often brought in small snacks and nothing has ever even been mentioned.

Oh, I wish I had read your post before I went to Wal-mart...I just got back. I bought mine 2 years ago. I don't go down that particular aisle often (light bulbs are at the front, so I grab them and head off).

I'll look next time I go.

I saw one as recently as 2 months ago at a local grocery store but have not been able to find the replacement filters since moving here a year ago and it's driving me bonkers!

Further exploration has led me to find that Culligan makes a sports bottle with a filter
