Carrying stuff

My DF (will be DH by then), my DD and I are going to WDW and I was wondering about carrying stuff, like water bottles, cameras, autograph books etc around in the park. We will all do the rides, so where would we put a pack while riding? Can you take the pack with you on the ride? Is there a place to stash it? I see that a lot of people comment on having all these things with them, I just wondered if it was a complete hinderance?

We took a backpack for change of clothes, autograph books, ponchos etc etc and put the waters in a soft sided cooler. We left the cooler with the stroller and took the backpack with us on rides. Didn't have a problem at all!

Katie, We pack our stuff in a back pack and carry it on with us. It isn't really a problem. The only time is was difficult was if we were carrying on a toddler, AND the backpack and then it's just awkward.

Hi! We did WDW with our kids for the first time this past May, and I wore a fanny pack for ID, money, park tix, etc. and the big-ol' backpack for water bottles, sunscreen, diapers, cameras, you name it!! I was worried about where to put my stuff too. I was able to swing it off my back and stow it away by my feet on almost every ride (some are roomier than others LOL). We didn't do the Thrill Rides so I can't say from experience, but I seem to remember reading that there is a place to stow backpacks in the foot of the seat?? Can someone verify that??

I wouldn't recommend leaving anything at all of value with your stroller, if you use one, that is (except for a bandana or hat tied to the handle to distinguish it from the sea of others). And I've read that there are lockers to store stuff in the parks as well. Just some ideas!

Happy planning!

Thank you everyone- that eased my mind. I'd hate to go empty handed and feel I should've brought something with me for my DD or whatever. Great suggestions. I'll get my backpack ready!! ;)

Katie -

We went there this summer. The life saver for us was the squirt/fan combination that we brought, however, that may not be an issue for you.

We also surprised the girls with small Disney backpacks, so they could have their own stuff - it fit a water bottle, snack, pennies/quarters for the penny presses & a pair of extra socks. SO and I traded off the bigger backpack, which was not a problem even on the thrill rides. Disney's thrill rides are not terrifying like so many other parks. Disney's magic lies in the "presentation" of the rides, not how high or how fast!

Have a great time - it is such a magical place!

I pack a backpack (not too heavy, though) with things like ponchos, change of clothes, snacks, water, juices, etc. A fanny pack for the *important* stuff (tickets, money, credit card, hotel key, ID's) and the autograph book & jumbo crayons. And we use a $7 diaper bag with silver insulation (it's cloth, and not "babyish") for our camera bag. We have a small (not the teeny tiny ones, though) camcorder, a not-so-big camera..it's a compact zoom, and I keep extra batteries, film, etc in there.

Just a note on this diaper bag. We were there in the downpours last December, and I really thought we "lost" everything in that bag as the ENTIRE outside was soaked. I did have it zipped and NOTHING inside in ANY pocket got the slightest bit damp!!

I do NOT give my daughter something of her own to carry, because GUESS who will be carrying it.

And I've never had to leave my stuff on any ride I've ridden, which includes Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain. But I have not done Tower of Terror or Rock N Roller Coaster, or any of the big rides at AK.
