I'm so bummed. I held off making reservations because I'm really not sure when we are going. We might go during Spring break or the last week in April. It depends on when my husband gets back from deployment. It is looking more likely that we will be able to go during spring break. So I called and tried to get reservations for the 12th and they are fully booked. :-( I was really looking forward to it. Are there any other character meals that are as much fun? I heard Chef Mickey was a lot of fun for the kids.

We went to Disney World in Jan on the dining plan, and honestly, Chef Mickey
How old are your kids? My kids (and me and DH, lol) like breakfast at the Crystal Palace with Pooh, Tigger, Eeoyre and Piglet, they also serve lunch and dinner. You can also find Mickey and his friends (not Minnie though) at the Garden Grill at Epcot.
We've never had a bad character meal, we like them all! Hopefully you'll be able to find one that's available on the day you want to go. You could also keep trying to get a cancellation at Chef Mickey's; your trip falls during a lot of people's spring break, and it will probably be busy, but someone may cancel.
Good luck, Steph
Forgot to ask, are there certain characters you're looking for? That might help choose a restaurant if there are.
'Ohana breakfast is Lilo, Stitch, and I think Minnie but I'm not sure on that. This is on our list to try next time, we've never done this one.
Liberty Tree Tavern dinner (Magic Kingdom) is Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale, the menu is like a traditional Thankgiving dinner. We've done this twice and liked it really well.
Cinderella's Royal Table in the MK is Cinderella and various other princesses, and the Fairy Godmother in the lobby. We've never done the character meal here, but it books really fast and is fairly hard to get, at least for breakfast.
Donald's Breakfastsaurus at Animal Kingdom is Donald, Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy. We've done this twice and had a good experience both times.
1900 Park Fare DINNER at the Grand Floridian is Cinderella, Prince Charming, Perla and Suzy (two of the mice from the movie I think), and the Fairy Godmother sometimes in the lobby. We had good character interaction here but didn't care for the food. It wasn't bad, it was just not for us. Most reviews I've read of it were good though.
Crystal Palace at MK is Pooh, Tigger, Eeoyre and Piglet. This is probably our favorite character meal (breakfast); never tried the lunch or dinner, and we probably won't because we like to get one of the first seatings of the day (8:05, 8:10, etc) and be finished as the park is opening. Makes for a magical day!
Cape May Cafe breakfast at the Beach Club, I've never been to this one. It gets good reviews and I don't think it's as crowded as park breakfasts, but I could be wrong. I think it's Mickey and friends.
1900 Park Fare BREAKFAST at the Grand Floridian, also never done this. I think it's usually Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, and a couple other characters, maybe Pooh and/or Tigger? I'm not sure on it either, but it gets good reviews.
Garden Grill at Epcot is Mickey, Chip, Dale and I think Pluto dressed in farmer attire. We did this once and had a great meal, they've changed the menu twice since then, then changed it back. We'll probably do it again.
Restaurant Akershus at Epcot, breakfast, lunch and dinner. We've done the breakfast twice and the food was great. I don't know if I'll convince DH to do it again, as it's a princess meal and we have two boys, but I'd probably try. We saw Jasmine, Belle, Snow White, Princess Aurora and Mary Poppins on our last trip here. Haven't tried the lunch or dinner, but you might want to check the menu before you make the ADR, it's norweigan food. I think they offer chicken nuggets, etc. for the kids but I'm not sure. I'd like to try the dinner myself, but not sure DH will because of the princesses.
Those are the only character meals I can think of offhand, I didn't list Chef Mickey's, but you already know about it. We've had two great breakfasts there and one dinner that was so-so, but it was an off night. Hurricane Jeanne was coming later that night, we were nervous and in a hurry, it wasn't anything wrong with the restaurant. We will probably try that again too.
Hope this helps, Steph
Thank you for all of the info. My boys are 12,7 and 5. Do any of the others do that napkin twirling and stuff that I heard about with Chef Mickey? I want them to be all excited. LOL I really want to do it the first night to get them in the Disney mood. lol

I know that at Crystal Palace there was the little parade, mostly for the little kids, the characters led and the little kids walked around with them, around the restaruant to some fast-paced, celebration type music. I don't know if they do it at dinner or just at breakfast. That's the only other thing I can remember that was similar to the napkin waving right offhand.
I forgot in my other post, but if you do one of the meals in the parks, you'll have to use a park ticket to get in. Since you said it would be the first night to get them in the Disney mood, I didn't know if you'd be going into a park or not.
