We are staying at AKL for 6 nights. I'm just planning to bring shorts, swimsuits and 1 nice thing for each person. Is this about right? Do we need sweaters for over-airconditioned buildings? (We live in Massachusetts and aren't really used to central air, even though it does get really hot and humid here.)

I may just pack for a few days, then wash a few things. Are the laundry facilities at AKL okay or am I better off just packing enough for the whole time? DD and I hate "re-wearing" dirty clothes, so I'd rather have to spend an hour and a half washing stuff than having to wear a sweaty gross shirt.

I would pack a light sweater or sweatshirt for everyone, you may need it in the restaurants.

AKL has good laundry facilities, it may take you an hour or so as you say, but if you want to pack light that's the best way to go, I hate to wear yucky sweaty clothes too.

That sounds about right for clothing. We've never needed long sleeves/sweaters when we've gone in the summer, but you might want them if you tend to get cold easily. I don't know what the laundry facilities are like at AKL, but if they're anything like Pop Century, it will be very busy! Sometimes you have to wait for machines, so plan on a couple of hours to do laundry. If you have room to pack enough clothing for your entire trip, I would suggest doing that so you can avoid having to spend too much time waiting to do laundry.

Hope this helps!

when are you going? If it is soon, you probably would not need a sweater or sweatshirt unless you get cold easily (and being from mass (I am from NH) you are used to cold-LOL!) it is often pretty cold inside but tolerable. I figure the less I have to carry around the better! I am also of the motto--no laundry on vacation :-) I would just pack enough clothing for your stay but that is an entirely personal decision. Have a great time--AKL is amazing!

LOL! see now I actually enjoy doing laundry while on holiday - it's my chance to be all by myself in peace and quiet for an hour or so - I take a book and a snack and I am happy.

It's when I am at hoem that I hate doing laundry!

A couple of things...one, if the mosquitos are out, you may want a lightweight pair of pants and a very light jacket for each person...you don't want to not be able to go out at night. I would take a really light jacket for everyone...you can throw them in a backpack and have them for when you need them...instead of feeling uncomfortable.

Definitely plan on doing laundry...I agree its easier to run a load or two than to pack for a whole family for a week....beside, I often do a final load the day before we leave so i can not start the being home time with laundry...jmho...Have a wonderful Time!

Wow, another sane person! I'm the same way and everyone teases me about it. But I love the alone time and hate coming home from some fabulous trip and having to do a week's worth of laundry. (I tell my family that's 28 person-days worth of clothing, since there are four people in our family.) Yeah, that's how I want to spend my first day at home, washing everyone's sweaty and possibly mildewed clothes...give me an hour in the coin-op laundry any day!

Whaaat?? They have *BUGS* at Disney?! You've just blown my whole image of it as this completely artificial pest-free fantasy land! Now I suppose you're going to tell me that our feet will have actual contact with the ground when we walk? ;D

Thanks for the tips, though. I will bring some light jackets as well as a bottle of bug spray. And you bet I'll be hitting that launderette--I do not want to lug 4 massive suitcases and I don't want to spend my first day back doing battle with the washer.
