Crazy Question...Disney Wedding

Well, we are planning our 'family-moon' to follow our small home wedding, but we had a thought...maybe a Disney wedding. We already have the plane/hotel reservations made, so we don't need those. I see on line that there are packages offered for weddings. Is is possible to have a wedding there, without the whole package. So it would be just for the ceremony...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Katie

I am not familiar with the weddings at Disney. I know you can get married there, but am unsure of the different packages they offer.

Here is the phone number for the Fairy Tale Wedding Department:

I got married at Disney! Yes you can add on just the wedding but sometimes it is more cost effective to buy their package. I just looked at the add on for a vow renewal - I think it was around 3000k which includes the location, cake and champaign, transportation (a limo), the officiant and some other stuff which I'm forgetting.

You best resourse is going to be http://www.yourfairytale.com/ there you can find info on all types of Disney Weddings.

Actually disney wedding are very $$$$expensive, call down to Fl. and find a JP arrange fer her to meet yous somewhere and it only cost about $100 and I think about $25 for a license. The only thing is not to get caught by any disney castmembers. You are not allowed to hold them on their property except for your room or SOMEPLACE YOU EILL NOT GET CAUGHT. We did it five years ago, we rented a boat and exchangeds vows right in gront of the magic kingdom on the lake. We had six family members with us and then had dinner at The grand floridain.

Yikes, I can't imagine doing it this way is worth it if you have to worry about getting caught by castmembers.

If getting married by a JP is not allowed on Disney property, I say Don't do it. Why potentially ruin what is supposed to be a very special, personal, IMPORTANT moment???

That's what I was thinking too Heather! Wow! having to look over your shoulder on your wedding day! Disney offers what they call *intimate* weddings which are significantly cheaper than the wedding packages, and can be held nearly anywhere on property. You are limited to I thin it is the bride, groom & 10 people. It's been a while since I looked into them though.

Disney is just expensive any way you go, if you're looking to cut costs it's best to do it the right way not with a cloud of guilt over your vacation (this applies to a number of situations that we see suggested on the board)

I thought I'd jump in too. DIsney doesn't allow any weddings on property unless they are through FTW. They will sorta turn a bline eye to weddings held in hotel rooms as long as you don't go broadcasting what you are doing. I got married at WDW in 1999 and just helped plan a June 03 wedding there.

Yes Disney weddings can be expensive but it also depends on what you want and where you are coming from. I've spent more than 6 years on a Disney weddings listserv (with more that 100 messages a day) and I've "known" a lot of NY brides that SAVED TONs going w/WDW and I know I did too.

In any case do what you feel is best. I think you can get everything for about $5000 which I don't think is horrible for 4 nights at a deluxe resort, park tickets, the wedding and more.

Wow! I was a NY bride and I agree! $5000! We spent probably another $15,000 on top of that for our wedding and there was no disney magic involved at all, so 5K with a couple days at WDW and tix and all the pixie dust does sound do-able!! LOL
