Is this a deal?

My cousin has not come through for our February trip (yet, anyway). I went ahead and booked with the free dining for now.

We got 5 nights, 6 days at POP, upgraded to basic dining, 5 day non-hoppers, for 2 adults and 2 eleven year olds...for $1700 and change. This is for Feb 1-6.

My best friend and I are splitting it...so we are each paying $850 (for one adult, one kid).

I'm thinking that's not too bad!! Our kids eat a lot and would not share meals, and would not be happy eating counter service every day, so I'm thinking that we'd each be spending quite a bit on food if we were paying OOP.

If my cousin does come through with a CM discount, we have up to 45 days to cancel the other ressies.

I think it sounds like a good deal.

If we had done the free QSDP, we would have booked two TS meals OOP. The upgrade was $200 total (so, $100 for each of us). We figured that those two TS meals would have cost us more than $100.

I've done the DDP both ways (the regular a couple of times, and the QSDP once). We've always had enough food, so I'm not too worried. We may have to get a hot dog, or a slice of pizza or something mid-day for the kids, but I have plenty of rewards points to use.
