Disney storller question

We;re going to Disney world in October with a 2 yo and a 5 yo. We're really stuck on the stroller issue. We dont ever use them (I dont even own one, but my double jogger), so we're not sure what to do in Disney. I have read that the ones available at the park are uncomfortable, so that leaves us with buying one or two. So... I have a few questions. Should we buy one and let the kids switch off, ( which I am not to sure of with my 2 yo and running off), buy two cheap strollers, (my DH is tall, so I need one with long handle bars and I'm not sure the kids will sit seperated) or buy a double? I like the idea of a double, but am not too sure about transporting it on the busses...
Anyway, does anyone have any advice for us? Thanks so much!

No advice on the stroller, but if you're concerned about your 2 y.o. running off, I saw the CUTEST thing in walmart the other day. For lack of a better word, it was a baby leash, but the part that goes on your child looks like a really cute little animal backpack. I think you could even put a couple of things in there. I think the "leash" part was about 6 feet long. There was a mom in the walmart who actually had one on her kid, and he didn't seem to mind it at all. Anyway, just a thought, that way he could get down and run, but you would have a handle on him the whole time.

Blessings,
Maria

I know kids are different this way, but my older ones didn't want or use a stroller after they turned 4. We never had any whining or complaining at all. This will hopefully be the last year my youngest will use a stroller in the parks. I find them to be a pain in the rear....but a necessary evil for very young ones, and I'd recommend one for your 2 year old.

If I were in your shoes, I'd probably look into a single stroller with that little seat or platform on the back for the 5 year old if necessary. Not this one in particular (I really don't know what is best), but here's what I mean:

I'd think it would be easier to fold and handle vs. a true double.

Best wishes!

My oldest (9 in 4 weeks) has not used a stroller, even at Disney, since she was 2. We never had a problem. My younger two (currently 2.5 & 3.5) are unhappily in a stroller for many outings for my own sanity because they take the 'divide and conquer' mentality. Slowly they are understanding that if they stay with me they don't have to be in a stroller.... lol But, for us, any stroller has been a pain at Disney because of the constant in and out. Well I take that back. When middle was 8 mo and I was 7 mo pg, the stroller was fine becuase I couldn't ride anything she couldn't anyways. The next year when we had both of them we used our double stroller. It's not the latest adn greatest on the market but it has what we needed and it's not heavy. But that's when it started to be a pain, in- out - in - out - in - out. So we learned to park the stroller in a central location of a 'land' and walk around then stroll to another 'land' - that worked great! Last year we took 2 umbrellas with the connectors if we wanted/needed them. Again the issues with

Just piping in to say Sonya you don't cease to amaze me with your knowledge and thoughtfulness regarding just about everything when you post! I have nothing to contribute stroller-wise, but boy am I thankful for Sonya and this board!

My kids are older... when we go my youngest will be a new 5yo and I have a 6yo. We haven't used a stroller since... ? Last year at a zoo I rented one. I have kept our strollers, I have a single and a double jogger, just in case we ever did disney. However, after much thought I have decided to not bring them and instead rent a double disney stroller. My primary thought is the crowded buses... I can't imagine folding up and lugging the stroller onto the bus when people are jammed on and standing. We won't have a need for it in the airport. And if my little ones are just wiped and can't walk from the bus to the room, we can always do a piggy back.

But I like the idea of having the double rental so they can kick back and we can keep them going a little longer than if they were on their feet.

Not sure that helps at all. Yes, you need a stroller. Renting there or borrowing one is the best bet.

My kids loved their stroller, and we liked to have it for carrying all of our stuff. We used the sit and stand double stroller - I saw someone posted a link to a picture of it. We loved it! It was plenty easy to fold and carry onto the bus and tram - no problems.

Those parks can be long, long days. I never minded the kids walking and just pushing the stroller empty now and then, either. It's just nice to have the option. And the awning on the stroller tilts forward and backward to shade the front or back. We always brought a small light sheet-type cover to drape over the awning and cover their little legs.

Have a great time!

Hi AMY!!! you know we just got back and Abby is never in her stroller but trust me she was here! There is way too much ground to cover and you WILL want atleast one stroller trust me, maybe even 2! we bought the peg perego pliko lite, I think it's an older model so a bit cheaper at $144 and it is now my ONLY stroller! I love it!!! the hood on it is huge and it does recline if she falls alseep, the bag in the bottom was big enough for all we needed (had to be accessed from the side of the stroller not the back but no biggie) and it is sturdy enough that we were able to hang a soft sided cooler over the handles and hanging over the back without it tipping when she got out! And that was full of waterbottles and icepack! we also had a fridge in the room and had wegoshop but us some grocieries and fresh fruit/milk and such and deliver it to the room! So much nicer than buying stuff there and she will shop where you want too!

Okay got off topic a bit but you know me!!LOL!! here is a link to the stroller, it folds up so nice for transportation on the bus and such, and it is so light!! I love it! Abby loves to put the foot rest up like she's loungin in a recliner!!LOL!!

We have used the rental for the past 2 years and we will again this September. We only have one little one...the other is 12. Our youngest one will be 4 in sept. We rented their single one on our first trip and she had just turned 2 and last year she was a week shy of 3 and this year she will be a week shy of 4. I loved how easy it was for her to climb in and out by herself if i needed her to, or I could strap her in and she stayed put. I did bring a towel becuase of the sudden, quick rain to wipe up the water and the heat can make it a little warm. The rental was enough for us. We tied a very bright bandana to the handlebar and could spot it where ever the CM's lined them up. It also had ample space for what we would need it for. I like not having to fold one up for the bus and in downtown disney we just walked around...there is to many people there for a stroller anyhoo!
