how is disney trans. we will have a one and half and a eight year old. i was thinking if we didnt rent a car we could afford to upgrade to a moderate since we would want to rent a fridge in the values we would be there for two weeks. the other option is to stay onsite one week without a car then stay offsite and have a car for the second week. also if you were going to stay onsite without a car would you bring a car seat just incase something happen
TIA

I think the Disney transportation would be way easier than having a car (we've never done the parks with a car, but the parking looks horrendous.) The buses & boats come about every 20 minutes. The only real pain is at the end of each night when the parks close, there are lines for the buses, but if you keep your perspective on it, it's not a terrible wait.
Good luck!
We almost always stay offsite because my parents have a timeshare.
I personally like Disney transportation. Yes, you do have to wait a few minutes to get on a bus, and there have been a few times that I've had to wait longer than a few minutes. But, DH and I are directionally challenged and loved just being able to get on a bus to take us to where ever we wanted to go. Plus, I like not having to get the kids into car seats and that the bus is already cooled off/warmed up, depending on when you go. My boys at 2 and 4 absolutely loved getting to ride the bus, but we live in a very rural area and that might not be as exciting to all kids :)
All that being said, we did have our own car and went to Publix for some groceries which was a big plus. I guess that I might feel a little more "trapped" without the option of being able to drive if need be. But, besides the trip to Publix, we only drove ourselves once to an early ADR to Chef Mickey's which involved a couple of u-turns :)
That is just my opinion. Good luck deciding!
The parking looks like a pain, but Disney's got the system so down-pat that we've never had an issue with parking other than monorail/ferry waits at MK (not issues coming from Epcot via monorail, though). Of course, I've never been at Christmas, etc when the parks are so full parking is shut down either.

We always drive, but I think if I were to fly, in the sake of saving money (which is hilarious because it would cost us 3, 4 times as much to fly than drive), I would settle for Disney transportation. However, if I have my car, we use it more often than Disney transportation.
I've had nightmare issues on buses.
However, we always use the monorail to go between MK & Epcot.
But, still I'd deal with it to save money...we weren't saving time or money and were very frustrated.

We drive to Disney so we have the option of driving to parks if we want to. Normally we don't. The exception
We stay onsite, and even if we have our car, we don't use it. We've never had a problem with Disney transportation. Yes, sometimes the busses get crowded. That's going to happen when so many people are leaving the same place, going to the same place, at the same time. If we know that we're going to have to stand on a bus, we move aside and let other people go in front of us, and wait for the next bus. It's usually 5-10 minutes and not a big deal to us.
When we flew with our 3 year old and 15 month old, we had a carseat for the baby because he needed it on the plane. The towncar company provided a carseat for our 3-yo, so that wasn't a problem.
