DVC Question - Always thinking
| Mon, 05-28-2007 - 9:20pm |
I know several of you are DVC members but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience renting points from a DVC member or renting to someone. I am thinking this might be a more affordable option for our family for next time and allow us to get the space we need without breaking the bank. What can you tell me, good and bad?
Thanks!
Tara

I had looked into that as an option before we bought DVC.
More things I thought of.
Hi,
We have rented points 3 times through the dis board. Twice we ended up getting them from the same person.
I got a good feeling both times when we made arrangements for transfers of money and for the reservation #. I could tell we had gotten trustworthy people by the email addresses, and their correspondence.
We are buying our own points over the summer, so we won't have to rent any more. I can't say enough good things about the DVC suites, they are wonderful. We stayed one night in a value, and said NEVER again! (those beds are HARD)
If you have any further ?'s, you can email me at donna@uptonhills.com
I am a DVC member since 1997. Also talk to people you know. More people than you think, own DVC. When I purchased I was able to use my sister's cast member discount. So we have a deal, any extra points, she gets to use. It usually isn't much. LOL. DVC is a great vacation. There are many different places to stay. There is Old Key West (the original DVC), Boardwalk Villas, Beach Club Villas, Wilderness Lodge Villas, Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, and Saratoga Springs. The only two I haven't stayed at are the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which doesn't open until this fall, and Saratoga Springs. I will be staying at Saratoga Springs this summer. They are all great. Old Key West has the largest rooms. Boardwalk and Beach Club are close to Epcot and Wilderness Lodge is close to Magic Kingdom.
Whomever you rent from, check all references.
