Eating in Epcot...

DH and I were discussing what to do with out "extra" day now that we are arriving in WDW at the weekend instaed of on the Monday as originally planned.

I know I've mentioned this here before and got some good suggestions, but DH has said he would like to go to Epcot, we have one visit scheduled there for Princess StoryBook breakfast later in the week which is in the World Showcase of course. Last time we went there we pretty much only did that side (apart from Soaring and Living with the Land rides) so it would be nice to do the Innoventions parts too.

I originally had us booked in to Shutters at the CBR where we're staying that night, but I was thinking that we won't get to Epcot until at least lunchtime and it would be nice to stay longer and eat there.

SO all this to say I am looking for ideas of places to eat in the Innoventions side of Epcot. I've heard Coral Reef is nice any other suggestions?

I know it's late at this stage to get an ADR but I may be lucky especially if I have a few choices - so fire away ladies please.

Hey Carole,
Guess where DH and I watched IllumiNations from, on his birthday last week?!
Yep, Rose & Crown!
It was fabulous, we walked back from dropping DS off at the Beach Club Kids' Club, through the International Gateway, and stopped at the podium to ask about outdoor sitting. At first I was disappointed because the girl emphasized it wasn't guaranteed and that their focus was to have us seated (anywhere) within 15 minutes of our ADR - so I didn't get my hopes up. She did say they'd lead everyone outside to a 'reserved area' for viewing the fireworks and then return to our tables after. They gave us a beeper and we hadn't even been gone two minutes when it went off and they led us to a table right at the bottom of the steps that lead to the outdoor area, with a pretty great view. The sign outside by the podium said something along the lines of spending a maximum of 2 hours at our table, so I didn't have to worry about being too early or hogging the table for the purpose of watching IllumiNations since our ADR was at 7:15 and it was clear that everyone let in at that time was staying through the show (and immediatly before us were some people who had 7:00 ADRs and the assumption was the same).
As for the food, I hear you about wanting something perhaps more exotic :) We had a nice cheese and fruit plate and my DH had to have the very good, very fresh fish and chips (it seemed that's what most everyone around us was having, either that or bangers and mash LOL) and a half yard of ale! (It was his birthday!)

I have to say though if you like French food maybe you should try for a dinner ADR at Chefs. That was the best meal we had this trip hands down (my DS9 even tried the escargot!) although it was for lunch, and they don't have outdoor sitting by the lagoon but I would think it would be easy from there to get a spot as long as you don't wait until too late.

LOL - give me a chance!! :) I just got out of the shower. My plan is to wait for DS9 to wake up while I finish unpacking/doing laundry and DH makes breakfast. Then we'll have to go drop him off...I just couldn't resist checking the board before starting all the drudgery...but yeah, it was great in many ways...just the end was a bit too tiring. I promise I'll get back with a full report (in chapters, even, LOL!) but it might take a few days...
Tonight it's back to the airport to pick up...my mother! She'll be here for a month :) And then I start back at work in just one week (officially) or sooner (unoficially) if I can get a key to my classroom (they've been doing construction work at school all summer so it's anyone's guess when they'll let us desperate teachers in!)

So I'm hitting the ground running pretty much...only a couple of days to relax...I'll try to get a head start then but just had to come in and hopefully try to start paying forward with all the advice and help I got here...

Lunch at France is one of our favorites too.

Hi Shay! SO so so sorry I missed you! Not even sure where we in the MK we were 'caught' on Saturday but I think it was in the waiting area for the Laugh Floor or somewhere like that when I suddenly looked at the time and went 'OH NO *expletive expletive* the Dole Whip Meet!' That day was a BLUR I tell you! The main things that stick out in my mind were melting in the sun and not being able to keep up with my family's crazy plans to do everything AGAIN (I thought the second day there would be more relaxed!) I did think of you and Hailey's birthday party and wondered how it all went.

Aaaanyway, yes, the lunch in France was by far the best meal we had, hands down. And because I was smart (and my family actually followed my lead that time) we shared stuff (the lunch menu, exactly: Onion soup, Croque Monsieur, Creme Brulee! And the snails, because you know, we were in France so we had to...and DS ordered something else that now I forget what it was but he ate it all up) so it all came only to about $50 for the three of us which was great, by comparison to, say, breakfast at the AK for $60 or the meal we had at Wolfgang Puck Cafe which was good but came out to about $80.
