Evening EMH: Love em or Avoid em?

When I found out about the new package with free hoppers and water park option, I was excited! I was planning on booking tonight after the kiddos are alseep. Then, I noticed that April 28 is now listed as a grad night with MK closing at 7pm. That was the night I'd planned on hitting MK for Wishes and Spectra :( I don't know what to do. I could switch stuff around and go the next night which is evening EMH at MK. I don't think my kids will be able to stay up long enough to really take advantage of the extra hours. Due to a last minute schedule change and a tropical storm, we were at Epcot in June on an evening EMH day and it was totally packed. I am now inclined to avoid EMH parks. I just need some opinions or BTDT advice. I sort of miss the days when all I did was show up and didn't stress over every minute decision :)

TIA!

Hi~! I guess it depends on the ages of your children maybe??

On our trip in September we only hit the late EMH. Then we never made any of the early EMH that I had planned because we were sleeping in from the night before.

I guess it all depends on what your plans are for the next day.

Our first nigh there was MK EMH. We arrived in Orlando at 11 am and checked in, hit MK for Pirates, did dinner at Whispering Canyon and then hit MK for late EMH. Mind you I was up for almost 24 hours by the time we left the park, because who sleeps the night before they leave? LOL! My kids were 4, 7 & 9 months and they did better than I did.

I would say go for it, just take a good break that day.

We absolutely LOVE the early morning EMH but we've yet to take advantage of the evening.

Thanks guys! I think I got a bit too upset over my "perfect" schedule that I'd worked so hard on getting altered, lol. My boys will be almost 3 and 5 for the trip. I think we'll at least try to stay for the parade and fireworks and go with the flow after that. I just wanted to make sure that it won't be super crowded. We are at least on central time, so 10 pm there is 9pm here. They seem to have no trouble staying up to 9 here, but I noticed last year that they seem to poop out early, lol.

Thanks again for all your input.

We've always avoided EMH altogether, but I think we're going to hit a few on our anniversary trip. I'll try to remember to post about how it goes, we'll see I guess. I always thought they'd be way too crowded, but I could be wrong. In your case, I'd probably try the EMH, just because of the early park closing, unless you can change your days around and get a regular MK day with no Grad Night and no EMH.

I think it depends on what you want to do. Our last park day from last year we couldn't bear to leave. So we hopped over to MK and waited for Spectro. This is a must see! Anyway, we utilized fastpasses and such so it wasn't too bad. It was crowded. I had the glow sticks with me. I passed those out to the children around me. Just plan ahead of time. The rides aren't as busy when the fireworks are going either.

During September 2006 8 of us were at Disney (MIL, FIL, BIL, SIL, me, their 3 kids= boy 8, girls 3 and 4). We used EMH every night we were there. My SIL had a double stroller for the girls (who are in bed EVERY night at 8pm when they are home). Usually after dinner (we ate fairly late w/ 8pm ressies most nights) they would fall asleep in the stroller. One of us would stay with the girls while others went on rides. I volunteered one of the nights at MK so that BIL, SIL, and nephew could go on Space Mountain, etc while MIL/FIL went on Pirates of the Caribbean. I enjoyed just pushing the stroller around while they slept, lol. It was one of the few quiet moments I had during the vaca.

We NEVER used the morning hours and I REALLY wished we did. Each day we didn't leave our resort (Pop Century) until AFTER 10:30 am. When DH and I go in April I told him that we would be there AT opening for our parks, lol. DH is an early riser (4:30 am thanks to Army life) so that "shouldn't be a problem." I keep thinking that it would be nice to get our priority rides/attractions done and maybe head back to the hotel around 3pm (or so) and swim briefly, shower and get ready for dinner.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

For my family early morning EMH work much better than late EMH. But, my oldest and I LOVE late EMH. When it's just the two of us the lines don't seem so bad, and it's a lot easier knowing that the babies are back at the cabin asleep and my dh, who is not a crowd person, isn't out dealing with it.
