Hi Debbie! Since you want to start your day at the MK, I would suggest going to eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe. This has become a must do on our trips. Dh says we should start our trips out eating there. You guessed it I am eating there on Friday. It is located at the Wilderness Lodge and a short boat ride away from the MK. If it is EMH, it will be busy. I can honestly say though, that starting my vacation watching Spectromagic would be wonderful! Again, these are just mho.

I can share our first night tradition with you if you want! We always eat dinner at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, then we take the monorail to the MK and watch Spectro and Wishes. Busy night or not, we always do this. It totally gets us into that Disney mood!

As for arriving at your resort, I'd imagine you'd be there by 4pm, and checked in by 5pm. If you make a later dinner reservation, say 6:30 pm, you'll probably be safe on time.

Have fun!

Thanks!

Both are good ideas for dinner.

I know Chef Mickey's and Whispering Canyon Cafe' are LOUD.

This won't be of help to you since you want to do a park, but we love to start our first day with a trip to Downtown Disney to visit the shops. One trip, we also visited Grand Floridian (Christmastime, so we saw the gingerbread house/shop) and visited Ft. Wilderness to do the pony rides, petting zoo (which I think is no longer there), and the clydesdale stables.

Debbie,

I think that's a good idea.

What about Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge? Or, you could go over to the Boardwalk area, and maybe go into Epcot and just wander around a little while?
