Congrats on your trip! You can get a lot of good info off this board. I am by no means an expert on Disney World, but I'll do my best to answer some of your questions.

Your son will have such a good time. It is a good idea to bring along some finger/snack foods for him to munch on when he gets hungry or while you wait in line. If he is afraid of the dark, a glow stick or small flashlight is nice to have on those dark rides. If you plan on doing a sit down meal, take him something to play with while you wait, like stickers or a travel size magna doodle. This is something I WISH I had done since my boys do not do well eating at restaurants :) Be sure to let him play in the play areas for some out of stroller time. My boys loved the Fantasyland play area almost as much as any ride in all of the World :) It will give you a chance to sit and rest too! Oh, and be sure to get there at park opening and ride Dumbo first since it has the slowest moving line :)

Since you are staying off site, I am guessing that you are planning on staying at the park all day. I would recommend bringing your own and preferrable one that reclines so that your little one can nap more comfortably. They sell umbrella ones that recline. The rentals are hard plastic and are OK but I don't think they'd be easy for a child to nap in. Our youngest son turned 2 during our trip to Disney World last summer. He is a usually a light sleeper and doesn't normally nap well except at home. But, he would get so tired that he would pass out in his stroller a couple of times a day (in addition to us taking a mid day break at the hotel).

We left the diaper bag in the bottom of our stroller and no one bothered it. We did not have valuables in it, just diapers and extra clothes for our boys. We took our camera with us on rides, but it is small. You can rent a locker to keep larger items/souvenirs in while you ride. We rented one a previous trip, but I cannot remember how much it cost.

There is a pretty big drop at the end of Splash Mountain. Unless your toddler is very, very tall, he will not be tall enough for either of these rides anyway. There are still lots of other rides that you can go on and that just gives you an excuse for a future trip so that you can enjoy all the rides :)

I hope that was a little helpful. Have a great time!

Don't worry I would never have put my toddler on Splash Mountain, LOL.
