I found out Wednesday afternoon when Mark called me at work that his tour in Afghanistan was extended 4 months. He'll now be there for 16 months and they are now telling me there is only a 51% chance that he will come home in June. We had to cancel our April trip and I was so sad after I have spent so much time planning.
I wanted to rebook for July and he didn't want to go then and now that I found out that he may not even be home in July I am glad that we didn't rebook yet. Apparently he is guaranteed to be home by September (18 months deployed). So, we are going to do a last minute road trip once he comes home (we decided that this morning).
Just wanted to share the news with you all. I will be sticking around because with all the planning I've done I NEED to go to Disney. I will be so dissapointed if I can't get there!
Thanks for listening,
Melissa

I am so sorry to read this! I've been reading your posts and I could tell how excited you were to be going to WDW. I just want to tell you THANK YOU! My family and I appreciate the sacrifices that you and your DH (and all military families) have made to protect our freedom. Without brave and unselfish people like you all, I can't imagine what life would be like here in the US. I know you all don't hear it enough, so THANK YOU!!!
I hope he gets home sooner than September...hang in there! Disney will be waiting for you for sure!!

I'm so sorry, that stinks! You're handling it MUCH better than I would be.
Hugs, Steph
I'm sorry to hear he won't be back for awhile.

WDW April 2007, Port Orleans Riverside:
I want to first say THANK YOU to you and your husband for making sacrifices for him to be at war.
You know going in early December would be nice. I know it seems so far away, but you could do the Christmas party and enjoy the decorations and cooler weather, lower crowds. It might be a nice celebration after he comes home - even if it is a few months after.
You will make it happen.
Hugs,
Sarah
Melissa,
I'm so sorry to hear your DH's homecoming is delayed.
Keep coming by though, I feel we have a semi bond and I enjoy chattin with you.
Take Care,
Carrie
First off THANK YOU to everyone! Your well wishes, prayers, and positive thoughts mean more to me than you may know!! I am very proud of my husband and all of our other military men and women and it touches me when others feel that way too.
I am going to post an update in a separate post in a few minutes.
Thanks again!
Melissa
