Has anyone ever had a Disney disaster?

Have you ever lost a kid at Disney? Gotten sick or had a bad experience that ruined the trip? What could have been done to avoid it, or was it unavoidable?

The thing is for most of us Disney with the kids is a once-(maybe twice)-in-a-lifetime-experience. The disasters of losing a flight or getting your hotel reservations lost are things we wouldn't want to happen.

I have never had a bad experience at Disney. Also, nothing has ever been as good as Disney (in the theme-park category).

Just wondering about other's experiences.

Thanks,

Rainbow

One of the things that we just love about Disney is that they DO THINGS RIGHT.

Well, I don't know that I would call any of my experiances disasters because looking back on them they're hysterical now and they make for great memories, but it's all in how you look at it.

June 1997 - honeymoon- This was a classic case of poor prior planning. That combined with summer heat 2 hour waits for everything (pre fast pass & pre AK) it ws a pretty miserable time. We honestly didn't think we'd be back, and we had both been before and had a great time!

Dec 2000- We had days left over from our honeymoon and Kait was free so we bought a 2 day ticket so we had 4 days and went down.

The first time we went we only had three chidlren (I have since had three more). They were 2, 4 and 8. We spent the day at River Country (doesn't even exist now). My husband said he was going to the slides, I said I would go to the kiddie area with my baby. When we met up again we realized that my middle child was not with either of us. He thought I had taken her, I thought he had taken her. I lost it. She was missing for about 20 minutes after that (and about a half an hour before we realized it). After ten minutes of looking, I started to picture myself going home with only two kids. I was beside myself. Anyway, a woman stayed with her the whole time. She was still in the same area. It was fine but I was a wreck after that for about two days. I never assume anything anymore.

Oh we had our ups and downs when we went, tho I wouldn't call anything a disaster, even the lost luggage that didn't make it to our room until 3am or so. Things ran the gamut from the luggage to dropping a pair of sunglasses in the toliet. I was sick, my then 10 yr old got sick.... well... I wrote a trip report you can read if you want-

Again I had no major disaster but we did weather so stuff that could be a drag.

I really got the vibe that almost anything can be worked out. I know for many families it's a once in a lifetime thing. A succesful trip does depend on part planning and creativity but you need a huge amount of attitude too.

Good Luck!

Not really diasters but something that you wouldn't know if it didn't happen.
