Hello Strangers!

I have no excuses, it's been chaotic, and I've perused a few times, but most of you I keep up with on FB, so I've been bad. I've had a few trips fall through in the last few years, which is depressing. The fact that I get logged out each and every time I visit makes it frustrating too - especially since the "remember me" box is checked! lol

But - this trip is still real and getting more real with each passing month! We're heading down the day after school gets out with my 3 girls, my oldest daughters best friend and my husband. We're staying at Bonnet Creek. Friends parents will be joining us sometime during the week. They haven't made their reservations yet. Then on Sunday all 8 of us set sail on the Fantasy for 3 nights and 4 days!!!!!! I'm making dining reservations this week. SO strange to have to do it each day again. But so far so good.

I am torn on something and would like some opinions....

I am getting the younger two girls (they are both 8 can you believe it! A will be 9 in two weeks, wow.) Guide to the Magic for Kids books for this trip. My 14yo (!!) is not interested, but she has been researching the heck out of the trip online. So here's what I'm looking for opinions on. I have the Passporter Deluxe binder from older trips. I was planning on ordering the cruise fill in sheets. It's not big enough to hold both DisneyWorld and Disney Cruise, so I was thinking about just getting pocket pages for WDW and the Passporter SideKick. It seems more economical than getting the printed version of Passporter WDW also. I am up to date on the info and the girls will have their guides. What do you think? PP Cruise,WDW pockets and SideKick, or PP cruise and PP WDW?

I vote for your original idea; I wouldn't get both full-version guides.  And remember that you can get a discount code if you listen to the podcast each week.  25% off!  I listen every week, so if you don't have time to listen, message me, and I'll tell you what it is Smile

Have you seen the Guide to the Magic for Kids?  It is much heavier than I thought it would be.  I got it for Meredith several years ago, but it was just too heavy to carry around the parks.  I think she might have glanced through it once or twice, so I ended up giving it to a friend who was going.  Never asked her if her daughter used it though lol!  And of course I had a discount code for that book as well, but I don't remember where I got it.

Have fun planning!

I don't see the girls bringing it into the parks either. I think they'll enjoy it more for the pre-planning and looking at it in the evenings. They are crazy about brochures and maps for any place we go - including Busch which is five minutes away! lol They also haven't been since they were 3 & 4 so they don't remember it as much. I got a small discount on ordering 2 of the books. I did order the PP Sidekick, now I'm just wondering if I should order the current edition of the PP Cruise, or wait until Feb and get the newest. It seems like all the info I need is in the current edition and that the new one will have the 2014 itineraries?

I am even more a stranger thann you lol! haven't been on the board in years. Our last trip was when DD was 9ish and she'll be 15 next April. We've been through a lot of ups and downs over the last few years, I think the last time I was here we were planning a trip but DH was laid off so we had to cancel. He was out of work for almost 2 years that time and although he has been back working for a few years now it's taken a long time to recover from the financuial difficulties. I am back at work myself now, and we're thinking that a trip before DD gets too old to want to come with us would be nice!

No concrete plans yet, but it's fun to look around. I was wondering how all the changes at iVillage had affected you here, my other board has migrated to a Google site, it was just too hard to keep going here, we were losng people every day.

I am glad to see you're still waving the flag for Disney - hope it stays alive. I was horrified at the thought of having to plan a Disney trip without you!

Hey Sonya!! I had seen your post while I was at NC for the holidays but couldn't log in from my phone :b So excited for your plans!! The Fantasy - woo hoo!! We got the Guide to the Magic one year and while I agree that it is kind of heavy for the parks, my Sara really enjoyed it before, during and after. It is a beautiful book - I think I got a discount code from one of the AllEars emails. I think I would wait it out for the latest PP Cruise since it will still be several months before your trip - just so you have the latest info. Just as a sidenote - we have the Deluxe binder and while I do like to get the latest PP WDW (always using a discount code! LOL), I have just ordered pockets occasionally since I really don't "need" the most current edition for WDW trips and that works just fine. Can't wait to hear about all your plans!!

Carole, I do think that the changes have lost many members here. It used to be a very active board, but not so much now. Not to mention that most members here are also members are larger Disney only sites with thousands of members. Boards that don't change their format every time someone sneezes. But we do have a lot of nice connections here at iVillage. :-)

4 nights on the Dream. Not 3 nights on teh Fantasy. sigh - I can't even get it straight! lol

Kait's best friend is going with us for a few days to the World, then her parents are joining us and we're all cruising together. We sat down early in December to discuss how often we'll hang out together, which meals we want etc. I got all the meal reservations made and finally had a chance to look at the park hours - hahahahahahahaha unintentionally, 3 of our park days are on EMH days (2 late, one early) and we're staying offsite this time. I think we'll be fine though.

So we're leaving on a Friday, staying somewhere partway down and checking into Bonnet Creek on Saturday.

Saturday is groceries, hanging at the hotel and dinner at Raglan Road.

Sunday We're going to MK with lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern

Monday we're going to Animal Kingdom - no reservations - BFFs parents arrive at some point

Tuesday - Epcot with late lunch/early dinner at Teppen Edo

Wednesday - Magic Kingdom, pre opening breakfast at Crystal Palace

Thursday - DHS - no reservations

Friday - US Islands of Adventure - meal at Three Broomsticks

Saturday - our family drives to Port Canaveral, laundry, beach, dinner of fresh seafood

Sunday - Thursday - 4 night Bahamian Cruise

Thursday/Friday - drive home - BFF is with us, her parents are flying.

So, there's a lot of "mistakes" that people over on some boards would rake me across the coals for, but we've all been multiple times, we're really flexible, we know what we're getting ourselves into and we're really really excited! lol

Oooh! I love your plans! I was on the Dream in 2011 and LOVED it. I'm excited you are going and I know you'll love it.

I don't see any "mistakes" in your plans. They look great to me! Enjoy!
