Wow! Have fun!

I think the car seat thing depends on your airline. I have only flown with a 9 month old (in a seat) and then older kids. It is a pain to lug the seat on and off the plane, but then it keeps them sitting still and in my mind safe. So if you purchased a seat, I would bring the car seat. You have to check that it is FAA approved though.

The magical express buses are coach buses. Not "city buses" like the normal transportation buses are.

Have a fun trip!

Congratulations on your trip. How fun!

All children over 2 need their own seat, I'm pretty sure.....but I don't believe airlines require 2 year olds to be in a car seat. I didn't see any toddlers in car seats on any of the 6 flights I was on this year (including my own 2 year old), but I have seen infants flying in a seat. I agree with the other poster that it's up to you.......if it will help your child to be a better passenger and make you feel better safety-wise, then go for it.

The Magical Express bus is a Mears shuttle bus with Mickey on the side, if you are familiar with Mears. They are nice - each person has a captain-type seat. The buses that take you to and from the park have the hard plastic seats with some in a bench-style down the sides.

I just wanted to mention that you'll be there during marathon weekend. The half marathon is on Jan. 6 - and the congestion will mostly be around Epcot and Magic Kingdom - and the whole race should be over by 10:00. But the marathon on Sunday is more of a production as it goes through all 4 parks and ends at around 2:00. The runners will finish at MGM and Epcot, so MK should be okay by mid-morning (the race starts at 6:00 a.m.!)

There's a great article on another site about avoiding marathon crowds, but I can't post it here - e-mail me at hallisey6@yahoo.com if you want me to send you the link.

Have fun with your planning! I'll be there 1/5 - 1/8....sorry but I'll be crossing my fingers for mild weather on Jan. 7 - marathon day, but after that I'll send you hot weather vibes for the rest of your trip!!
