I haven't been to Disney since I was 12,lol!! I am now 35! My husband and I wanting to take our two daughters 13 and 7 maybe next year. I know we want to stay in Disney, wondering if it is worth it to upgrade from Value to Moderate. Does Value Motels have more than one pool? Is it best to purchase everthing straight from Disney online or go through a Travel Agent and make payments for our stay and Flight Tickets? Is there a best Way to Plan out your Day to Day in Disney so we can make both daughters happy? What is the best Character Meal (we plan to do the Disney Meal Deals and cash in our 2 tickets for the one meal). Any tip saving ideas would be greatly appreciated, I Hate hunting things down, I am kinda like Grap some Cash and go - figure it out on the way, but my husband is very planned out he wants to know each step we will take so I better get a game plan of this thing. Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!

We are taking our grandson this Fall. I can tell you this, Moderate rooms have either 2 double beds or a king bed depending on what level/view you pick. The Deluxe rooms have 2 queen size beds. Some of the Value rooms have more options for families. You just have to go to Disney's website and look at all your options. Where I live, I had 3 different options for my air travel. I picked the airport and airline with the best deal. We then took it to the travel agent and she then booked it. I don't know about the character meals, since we didn't do them. We are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter, we did theat last time in 2002 and liked it. In 2000 we stayed at Riverside. Before that in 98, we stayed at All Sports. that was a last minute decision. booked on Tueday flew there on Saturday.

I just don't like the expedia or cheapest flight way. I know some have done fine, but some people have gotten burned. I would just research first before you make your choices.

DH and I highly recommend the Fodor's Walt Disney World with Kids books by Kim Wright Wiley. An updated version is published every year, and it is a fantastic resource to help you plan out a trip with kids! We have booked everything through Disney three times and with a travel agent once. Honestly, we prefer to do it ourselves. The travel agent didn't do anything for us that we hadn't already done in booking our previous trips. The Value resorts all have multiple pools, which are very large. We've stayed at All Star Music and Pop Century. We absolutely love Pop Century. The location is great (very short bus ride to MGM and Epcot, about 10 minutes to Animal Kingdom, and 15 to Magic Kingdom. The decor is a hoot, too. If your main focus is to spend a lot of time in the parks and limited time in your room, the Value resorts are the way to go, in my opinion. It saves us a lot of money when we go since the only thing we really want is a clean, air conditioned room to sleep in...we spend A LOT of time in the parks. Plus, when our girls are a little older, we'll be able to easily afford two, adjoining rooms at the Value resorts for the same price as one room at a Moderate.

Hope this helps a little bit! Happy planning!

wondering if it is worth it to upgrade from Value to Moderate.

This really depends on your reason for wanting a Mod - the mods are a little bigger, the theming is not 'in your face', there is a full service sit down restaurant onsite as well as a food court and in some cases an alternate mode of transportation. The moderate resorts also typically have less total rooms than the value resorts.

Does Value Motels have more than one pool?

Yes. Each of the value resorts, as well as all the other resorts, have more than one pool.

A good travel agent is going to get everything through Disney anyways, not a 3rd party vendor. Whether or not you purchase online or over the phone depends on if you have questions or not. Online it's just like shopping - add to cart - check out. If you call, you have opportunity to ask questions.

There is not much a travel agent can do for you that you can't do for yourself. The difference is - I have a different # I use to call Disney, I talk to different reservationists that deal just with the TAs. I'm doing the calling, not you and if I've done my job properly I have already helped you work through everything that you want or need. It's my job to present options and assess things to help you make decisions.

Ok You are AWESOME and I am sure you will be hearing from me Thanks, so much! We are a two income family on a tight budget with 2 car payments and so on, but I feel like I can make this happen, I really want my girls to see Disney, but I have to do this on a budget, ya know. Thanks.

I have seen airline tickets from our town in South Carolina to Orlando for $39 a ticket - are these for real?
