Hi-we are going during spring break (which is peak season, so the room rates are $$$$$$$) and I don't mind sharing w/ you how much we are spending.
Our airfare for 5 people is $1,448.50
We have 5 nights in Ft. Wilderness Cabins, 4 days of park tickets - (3 adults, DH DD#1 who is 12 & myself; one child DD#2 who is 5 & my DS is 2, so he is "free")
We also
Wow! and I was complaining!!! I understand about the mortgage also...
Thank you so much for so much information.... Maybe we should save up before going on vacation.. DH has his own business and this is the slow period.. If he would bonuses, that would be different....
Hi.. I just found mousesavers.com.. It's wonderful.. They mention Disney does not count kids under 3.. Is that really true?
The time of year you go can drastically affect your cost. In fact, the price during holiday season is right at double the price of the same room for value season. (which is the day before). There are two other seasons for resorts - regular and peak that fill in the price range. I can't afford to go during anything but value season.
Also there are often discounts during certain periods that can lower the cost. You can lower your total cost on tickets by purchasing only the ammount that you need. When you price things online Disney always defaults for the max # of days on your ticket. So for a 7 night vacation it would default to a 9 day ticket, when really depending on travel times you probably only need a 5 or 6 day ticket. Lately the Disney site (or at least the travel agent site, I haven't been to the regular one recently) also defaults to the park hopper plus water park fun and more options. I wouldn't give up the park hopper option, but you could get away without water parks depending on your family and the time of year - or if you want the water parks, you probably need less park days.
Disney's dining plan can also be a money saver on food if your family's eating style fits into it's mold. It's only available with a package - which means paying for at least 1 day tickets at Disney prices and has to be purchased for everyone on your reservation, for the entire length of your reservation.
We drive down, so my numbers would be way lower than yours, but you can find decent deals on airfare depending on when you go and where you're flying from.
Correct - as long as the child has not passed their 3rd birthday they do not count in the room count, do not need a theme park admission ticket and eat free at buffet meals. You will pay for anything ordered off of a menu for the child.
I just looked again at your original post - your 1 yo would be free under the details I listed above. Your 10 yo counts as an adult for theme park admission, buffet meals, and Disney's Dining Plan.
Mousesavers is an excellent source of information - so is allearsnet.com
Oh I didn't know that about the passes.. Thanks for letting me know.
Do you suggest buying the park hopper passes from AAA site? I have a card so that's possible.. Do you know the value season?
