I have an 19 month old and would like to travel during Jersey Days in Nov.? Will he get anything out of it or am I just wasting my $$$?
TIA for your input.

My rule of thumb has always been if they are still in diapers/pull ups it is too early.. BUT not everyone is in agreement with that on this board. Some young children are also afraid of the characters.
I went with the my 2.5 year-old (first DS) once and I found it to be too difficult for me. But, every child is different.
We are taking our 3 year-old (second DS) on his first trip in February. I think that is a good age. He is completely potty trained. We are going to rent a stroller for him and I think he will eat several things on the kids menues.

We took our youngest a 9 months.
We did Disney when my younger dd was just 2 and a week shy of 3. The first one was when she was 2 was a little harder. Mostly because she was scared of the characters and hated waiting in line. By the 3rd day the lines didn't bother her and by the 4th day she was shaking the characters hands.
The second trip when she was just a week shy of 3 was much better. Hugged the characters first day there, didn't mind the lines (What lines? we were there in sept and there really wasn't any lines!). I am not sue if it was better because she was older or because she had been there once and was ready for it.
I'm probably the exception but I say it's never too early!!
Jen,
I think that the answer to this question really depends on your child's personality and your family's finances. We took DS to Animal Kingdom when he was 18 months old and he wanted NOTHING to do with the characters. We stuck to the animals and the Jungle Jammin' Parade. We are going to the MK in September right before he turns three and I harbor no illusions that he will run to Mickey Mouse and hug him. I will be content if he's not scared. BUT, I live in Florida, so going to WDW is something we do every year for one weekend and not something I plan for months, and spend $$$. I think that as long as you keep your expectations in check and are willing to accept the fact that your child might not behave the way you fantasize then go ahead and take him! Just my two cents.
