I am getting a bit worried about going

We're going to WDW the last week in December, and we're staying off-site (Star Island Resort, a large suite, part of our time-share exchange). Our 3 dd's are invited, and the eldest's (well she's not a teenager anymore) boyfriend as well since they've been together for such a long time. The kids are 21, 21, 20 & 15. We are renting a mini-van.

I am quite obese and I have bad knees and problems with an arm as well, and dh is on cardiac disability with an arthritic hip (even though we are both 47) and I'm worried about getting around in the parks. I have heard about scooters. From what I understand, the parks have scooters for rent but since that's peak week, they will most likely run out early. We also have the option of renting a scooter for the full week from an off-site vendor, but then we have to fold it up, put it in the car, take it out of the car, unfold it, all the time. I don't know if dh and I are alone, that we'd be able to handle one scooter, let alone if we decide to use two of them (although dh says he'd rather chew his arm off before being reduced to using one, I'd rather use one than fall and get hurt even more!).

I am getting really anxious over this and just don't know what to do.

Hello. I don't have any experience with the scooters but I hope that someone can put your mind at ease. I will be at Disney around the same time and am also concerned about the crowds.

Good luck!

You may want to look into how much it costs for the weekly rental from an offsite vendor if you think you'll need one everyday (it gets $$$$$$).

I can't really help with the question you asked, but I did want to make a comment about scooters. If you choose to rent one, PLEASE make sure you take the time to learn the ins and outs of it. When we were there in December there was a lady on a scooter behind us during a parade. She had her little granddaughter (maybe 4 or 5 yrs old) on the scooter with her - actually the girl was standing on the scooter behind grandma. Anyway, apparently the little girl couldn't see the parade well enough or something so they decided to try to move the scooter a little closer. But grandma didn't have a handle on how the scooter worked and it ended up going forward really quickly, it ran into 3 people in front of them and the little girl flew off the back hitting her head on the concrete (yep, blood all over, it was NOT a pretty sight.) In the end, the little girl was ok and the people who got hit were ok, although all were a little banged up, and one lady lost some skin on her leg - ewww.

The moral of the story being PLEASE make sure you know how the scooter works!

(((((HUGS))))) I do hope you have a great trip, though!
