I got an e-mail pin for free dining in July and from all angles it just seemed like that was a "too good to pass up" deal.

So, I went ahead and booked cabins, 5 day hoppers and free dining....we shall see if it was worth it or not.

I'm thinking with 5 Disney "adults" -- it was probably worth it.

I have booked Crystal Palace lunch, EPCOT Princess breakfast, Animal Kingdom breakfast, 50's Primetime Lunch...and I'll figure out the rest later.

Oh, that's sounds great! And I've heard that as long as you don't have super picky kids that the dining plan would/should work well. And the fact that it was FREE means that it doesn't really matter if they are picky and won't eat all the much from the adult menu anyway, lol.

Very cool!!! You got a PIN!

I think free dining always sounds like a great bargain but we don't book packages b/c of DVC so I really don't know if it makes a difference. I do remember reading somewhere that sometimes the free dining might not be that great a deal b/c you end up paying more for the rooms/tix end of the pkg. so it kind of balances out but it tempts you to book b/c hey, the dining is free! LOL I'm curious - did you compare costs before the PIN and after? I bet you'll still come out ahead! :)

I did a "rough" comparison.

LOL About poor Kyle falling out his chair and you not feeling too badly :b

Sounds like this is definitely worth your while. I have to say - I'm jealous of the whole free dining thing! Lots of DVCers complain and then someone will explain that it doesn't really matter b/c the person getting the free dining pkg is really paying for a pkg so it's not the big of a deal. But I disagree - and look at what you said - you're now going to eat at places that you were probably going to pass up before. And yes, with so many children eating as "adults" (I hate that!), free dining is wonderful! Congrats!!
Do Yachtsman - good meal!! Yummy!

The only thing that makes me nervous about Yachtsman is -- that was our first package night dinner and oh goodness...we were 45 minutes late to it to start out with, then everyone had to go the bathroom 30,000 times which consisted of us getting up and OUT of the restaraunt.
