Hello~

I just booked our trip to Disney World! We are going in mid-August...I know that it will be verrrrrrrry HOT but with kids in school, I didn't have a lot to work with. My kids are ages 12, 10, 8 (boys) and my daughter will be almost 3. My husband and I were teenagers when each of us last went to DW, so this is such a special and long anticipated trip for us!

We will be staying at Port Orleans-Riverside for 6 nights and going to the parks in this order: MK( Sunday), AK (Mon.), Epcot (Tues), MGM (Wed), Typhoon Lagoon OR Blizzard Beach (Thurs). I chose that order to utilize the extended hours of each of the parks. We have chosen the dining part of the package and I have booked reservations for each of the table dining restuarants as well: Fairytale Lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table, Breakfastosaurus, Garden Grill and Sci-Fi Dine In. What do you think?

My daughter is such a Disney Princess FREAK that I wanted to book a character meal for her, so I chose the FL @ Royal Table. I thought that the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall would be way too princess-y for the boys, but now I am not sure...DOES Cinderella show up at the Royal Table or not? What exactly DOES go on in there? Also, I realize that I have 2 more character meals...I wasn't trying specifically for that, but (long story spared)it just worked out that way. Do the characters really take the time for a photo or two when you do these character meals?

Back to the heat issue...I read somewhere that you CAN take a cooler into the parks. Does anyone know this for a fact? I couldn't find it on the DW website, but I understand that they might not want to advertise that. I am hoping to take in some water and Gatorade to try to ward off some of the heat...(yeah right, I know ;) )

If you have any advice for me regarding my current choices, please let me know...I feel like there is probably more that I should be planning, so I will be checking in here frequently for more info.

Thanks and I will be "seeing" you around here!

Hi Stephanie and welcome!

Are you going during Free Dining or do you just miss it?

Meals at the castle are 2 table service credits each so you've only got to narrow it down to adding one more (tougher than adding 2!!! LOL) Cinderella is on the schedule, but 'all characters are subject to change w/o notice', so unless she happens to be sick she'll be there.

We've never been rushed at any character meal except Breakfastasaurus, and that's also one where the characters do NOT come back if you were at the buffet when they came around. The restaurant (a counter service by day) is just poorly designed for use as a character meal.

All other meals we've had great interaction with characters. CRT has 'face' characters which is great because they can talk to you and we had outstanding interaction at Garden Grill.

You may not bring in hard sided coolers, wheeled coolers, soft sided coolers larger than 24x15x18, alcohol

1.Each of us carry small water bottles (refillable around the parks for free - the only problem I hear is that the water tastes bad, so I might bring some sort of powdered drink to add to it, currently looking for something low in sugar but without Aspartame, etc).

I searched high & low for packets that I could flavor water w/ but they all seem to have the artificial sweetener.

Just wanted to jump in and recommend checking out 1900 Park Fare. Cinderella is there at dinner at least. We haven't been yet, but we'll be there in a couple of weeks. I've heard great reviews about it though, and the Grand Floridian is beautiful and fun to poke around in!

We just got back & had dinner @ 1900 Park Fare.

We went during spring break-very busy time-but I didn;t feel like it took long to greet the characters at all.

Cinderella greets in the lobby during breakfast too and does not table hop.
