Just visited WDW & MGM Studios

Hi, I have lurked here a couple times & decided to come out of hiding to post some "tips" we discovered this past weekend while visiting the parks. While there are some great deals now that Spring break is over just FYI the parks close a lot earlier than usual because of grad night functions. The schedule changes week to week so you may want to check ahead in case you planned long days at certain parks. We did a breakfast buffet with the charactors at Ohana room @ the Polynesian early in the morning 7:30am. It was awesome!!!!!! The veiw was great, the charactors were fun and spent plenty of time at the table with the kids...even Chip (or was it Dale?) picked up my 2 yr old daughter and held her for about 5 minutes! Then, because we had a temp parking pass we decided to just leave our car there and hop the monorail to WDW. The waitress said it was OK because we probably would NOT get a parking ticket or towed because staff would not spoil a vacation for any family. So, we saved money on parking, got over quick on the monorail, and got there early since we had an early breakfast!

I read the talk about the Pooh ride and YES, I am sorry to say it was closed, and looks like it will be for awhile. But, if you are planning on going to MGM, make sure you catch the Playhouse Disney show...may bring you some comfort, LOL! Also, at WDW the Carousel Of Progress is closed too...that was one of my favorites but I suppose they need to update it since they haven't in so long!

Now, my best tip! Take advantage of the FAST PASS! It will save you an extraordinary amount of time on the long lines. There was no way we could schlepp all three of our kids on almost everything with the park closing at 7pm without it! And, the same tickets you get for fastpass are the very same looking ones you get for ride swapping...make sure you go up to the attendant at the begining of the long line and ask to SWAP...they will issue you a ticket if you say you are going to stand in line first...but if the line is busy you can eaily slip into the fast pass line and hand them the swap ticket with them thinking you already waitted in line and just sending in the second adult thru. If you combine a Ride Swap with a Fast Pass you can get even more opportunities to get on a favorite ride without the wait. But, you can not run around the park and get all Fast Pass tickets to all available rides because there is a time limit...you can only have one Fast Pass issued within a certain amount of time or after it's been used...then go get another one. We would go to one area, get a fast pass & then do other stuff until it was time for the Fast Pass ticket. But, you want to make sure you get the rides you really want firts because at the end of the day you won't be issued a time if it's too close to park closing.

We had a GREAT time, and I suggest the show in front of Cinderella's castle...get there a couple minutes earlier because it gets crowded fast...we were right at the front and my kids were mesmerized the whole show! If you need any questions answered, please don't hesitate to ask, I still have lots of the guide maps & times info in case you are getting ready to go! *HUGS* Sharon (sorry about the cl-thingy, having problems switching it off)

Glad to hear you had a good trip. Maybe I'm just surly today, but I have a problem with your scamming the baby swap system. Disney is kind enough to those of us with young children to offer the swap. I don't think anyone should be cheating the system in order to avoid the line. I'd hate to see people take advantage of the swap like you did and force Disney to stop the policy.

I guess you can call me Grumpy today.

I have to agree with mommycom...

I must be surly today, too, but I also have a problem with your scamming the baby swap system. (I'm usually a lurker but this just kind of irked me.)

Sorry you feel I was "scamming" the baby swap system, and sorry I posted about it here not knowing I would be blasted , but just to quickly explain...you can't do Fast Pass for *ALL* the rides, just maybe 1 or 2 in each land. So, we did not *scam* all the rides like we are criminals just Space Mountain. I have three young children and being that the parks close early we were restricted with time. Disney is very expensive no matter how you do it & even staying off property to cut corners we spent plenty of money in the park trying to stay hydrated and eatting meals & buying small gifts for the kids. Trust me, when you are standing in line with kids that are 2, 4 and 7 for an hour in the heat and the park closes early but your children want to go on certain rides...you may be tempted too. And, just for the record, my son took a Disney hat from a store and hid it in our stroller...being the criminal that I am...we returned it back to the store as soon as we discovered it. Sorry to have offended you. Sharon

I'm surprised Disney's security is so lax! Your son took a hat, hid it in your stroller and no one noticed? Wow. Just think what REAL criminals could get away with! LOL

Susan, while it might not have been the right thing to do, your reply was a bit harsh, you most likely just scared a lurker right off the board.

Thank You Seamour, that was sweet of you. The only *real* reason I de-lurked here was because I knew alot of people were going down soon & while I was there I met alot of people with kids that were dissapointed because of the early park closing times and some ride closings. Just wanted to give others a heads-up. I drove two days from NJ just to get there for those 2 days because then we had other family obligations in Southern Florida. We thought we had things planned pretty well, but were dissapointed about some of the early closings and the long lines...they do change things frequently as told to me by a security guard at MGM while I was waitting for my DH & kids to come off a ride. I was also trying to encourage the use of the Fast pass, which is NOT deviant behavior, it was my DH trying to get my son into Space Mountain who discovered the line jump into the return fast Pass line & did it just the one time. So, I suppose when I email Disney because we looked all over the park trying to catch Pluto for a much wanted autograph I will add my confessions of a mad mother's line cutting technique. But, I think Michael Eisner (sp?) will be OK with this because I did let another family "cut" in front of me in line to get Buzz Lightyear's autograph after we waited a thousand "to infinity and beyond" for it, LOL! Hmmmm, maybe he will even send the Mouse to my home and slap me silly with those big 'ol white gloved hands, hang me by my toenails and make me sing "It's a Small Word" one billion gazillion times. Oh well, I am still singing "Zippity Doo-Da" so all is not lost! Sharon
