Is anyone going to the Last Tour To Endor Party on August 14th? I guess they are throwing this party to coincide with Star Wars Celebration in Orlando that weekend and before they close Star Tours... I think it sounds like fun!!

If I'd any idea what Endor is, I'd consider it. LOL! I have never seen Star Wars. Weird, right? I know enough to get by on Star Tours (names of characters, etc.), but that's it.

OMG! They are closing Star Tours! How did I not know about this?! That sucks.... (Star Wars is one my all-time favorite movies/trilogies and I love everything to do them, lol.) Granted, I get motion sick every time I ride on it, but still! LOL

And Endor is one of the planets in the third (well, Episode VI, lol) movie, Return of the Jedi. It was released in 1983 (the first one (A New Hope), Episode IV, was released in 1977; the second one (The Empire Strikes Back), Episode V, was released in 1980.) And thus concludes this lesson in Star Wars, lol.

ETA: The scenery that is around the Star Tours ride is of Endor. The little tree house things are the homes of the Ewoks, the cute teddy bear-like creatures. And the area where they have the Jedi training thing for kids at is the entrance to the base where shield generator was that protected the Death Star. Ok, so I lied...there was a little bit more of a lesson.

Well, it's closing....but then being replaced with something 3D. I think! So we'll keep our fingers crossed that it's better (you never quite know with replacements).

I have not once kept my eyes open during the current Star Tours ride, because I'm certain I'd be sick. But now that you mention it, I do remember HEARING them say Endor.

My son wants to see all the movies, and I told him he should have a Star Wars party this summer. When he started asking around, he realized there were a lot of kids his age that haven't seen them. I doubt I'll be invited to the high school party, but maybe I can watch the night before. Now that I've been schooled a bit....thanks for that. :)

Oh, no problem! I love Star Wars, and can give you lots of "lessons" on the movies. Well, at least the original 3. I'm not that big of a fan of the newer ones, lol, but have watched them. Oh, and here's a really cool fact (at least for me, lol) - Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and I share our birth date (although years apart, lol)....October 21. I always thought that was so cool, lol.

And I went searching for info on the closing of the ride. Apparently, they are not getting rid of it, but are "reimagining" it, and will call it Star Tours II or something like that....

And I definitely think you should watch the movies (again, the older 3, lol). They are actually made really well and the graphics and such are really quite good for when they were made. There are also redone versions that have new scenes that either had to be deleted when they were first made or couldn't be done properly due to restrictions with the technology at the time. It is because of Star Wars that many of the special effects technology that we have today is around and as good as it is now. LucasFilms developed a lot of the technology solely because of these movies (actually, LucasFilms was made because of these movies, lol).

Ok, no more lessons today, I promise! I'm going to bed now.

Yes, this ride is being updated and reimagined to include more of the recent story lines of the newer SW films.

My son is 7 and has been well versed in Star Wars since pretty much birth... My husband is a HUGE fan... as a matter of fact we have a whole room (his office) decorated in Star Wars... not my choice... but hey - its his office.

Sorry..lol. I watched the Ewok Adventure...does that get me any points??? LOL

Gasp--I've never even ridden Star Tours! ;o)

One of my best friends and her whole family (3 kids, one a girl) love sci-fi and Star Wars is a definite favorite. They are going to a Star Wars concert that is touring right now.

One of Aly's best friends also loves Star Wars, but she never got into it either.

I bet they are going to a concert that is being played by a symphony orchestra and narrated by Anthony Daniels.

Don't worry about earning points. I don't think I would watch the movies either if I had only watched the Ewok adventures which aren't the best quality.

If you have ever watched any movie that uses Industrial Light and Magic, then you can thank George Lucas. :)

I read somewhere (and I *think* it was on the Disney World website) that The Last Tour to Endor is NOT just for those attending the Celebration V Convention. It stated that although it is "in conjunction with (so to speak, lol)" the Celebration V Convention, that you do not need to attend that to attend the Last Tour to Endor party. I think they said the tickets are like $75 for LTtE and that it is at DHS after the park closes until like 1am. Oh, and I think they said that costumes are welcome!

I would really love to go to the Celebration V convention.....and just may, seeing as we live in Orlando, not 30 minutes from the convention center, lol. Granted, I'll have to convince DH to go with me, as he can't even seem to stay awake through the movies....

I have to say, all this Star Wars talk has me really wanting to watch the movies. The only problem I have is that I only have them on VHS and the VCR isn't hooked up at the moment (and I don't know how to hook it up, as the TV doesn't have the right type of port on the back.....new TV, old VCR do not equal compatible!).
