First off, Congratulations!!!

As for the newborn going to Disney, I have a friend that lives close to Disney and she took her 1 week old to MK already.

Congratulations on being pregnant!! I must admit that I rode some coasters pregnant, but I drew the line at ToT...

I know what you mean about the pregnancy putting a kink in the plans, it's just not how you pictured it to be (and we all know how we plan our Disney vacations!!) I found out I was pregnant (with my first, many years ago)right before a trip to Key West. That is NOT the place to be pregnant - I think tequila came out of the water fountains there!!

As far as your December trip...I'd rather have a newborn baby than a potty-training toddler at Disney anyday!!!

Enjoy your trip AND your pregnancy!!

Well....congratulations on your pregnancy! My last one was a VERY sneaky, surprise pregnancy (failed vasectomy 3 years after DH had it), and I have to say that sneaky babies are kind of cool. It's like they really wanted to be born. :)

I understand about the coasters though. I really love them and would be bummed, too. I'm glad this isn't a once-in-a-lifetime trip for you, and you can go back and ride the coasters before long. We live very close to Kings Island....an amusement park near Cincinnati, OH that is known for great coasters. I rode a bunch before I knew I was pregnant this last time. OOPS! It wasn't a problem, but I wouldn't have done it had I known.

We took our little one when she was 8 months old, and it was great. I know a newborn is different....but I'd do it! I was nursing, and I had no problem nursing Audrey anywhere and everywhere. Rides, buses, behind buildings.....nobody even noticed. There is so much going on. We had the stroller and a Baby B'jorn.

I am due in November and we are going to the world at the beginning of Jan.

I refuse to cancel the trip, my 4 year old has been obsessing about this trip for over a year (since our last trip) I can't possibly say no.

so I say GO FOR IT!!

Well, you asked...

Yes, yes I think you are "crazy" (your word, lol) for planning to take a trip with a newborn.

Why? Well you just do not know what kind of un-expected things should arise between now and then. Hopefully the baby will be healthy and not need any medical care during that time. But if any unforseen medical issues were to arise, you may end up cancelling your trip and losing out on $$$.

Second, I don't feel a newborn needs to be out in the winter weather. I know it's Florida... I live here in Tampa and would not keep my newborn outside for extended period in that weather.

Just all 100% my opinion, but I would wait until after the baby was born, then plan a trip for either later that year or the following year.

First of all congratulations! How exciting for you! I guess I am in the minority here, but I say wait. Your baby will only be a couple of weeks old and if I remember correctly you live quite a ways from Florida, right? Will you be driving or flying? We once took what should have been a 4 hour trip when our youngest DS was 7 wks, and it ended up taking us 7 hours with him screaming inconsolably the last hour (and he was not a fussy infant at all). I, personally, would also not want to take a newborn on an airplane either, especially in the winter months, because of an increased risk to germs like RSV. That would be my main reason for not wanting to take a baby that young to Disney too. There are all sorts of viruses that "live" at a place like Disney World. I am pretty conservative when it comes to taking a newborn out and have always stayed home with mine for the first 5 weeks (both mine boys were spring/summer babies, or it would have been longer). I also agree with the previous poster that you don't know what can happen between now and your trip. Although you may have no reason to expect anything but a normal pregnancy, things don't always work out as planned. I have had several friends with perfectly normal pregnancies that had to deliver 5 or 6 weeks early and had their baby stay in the NICU for days to weeks. I don't want rain on your parade, so to speak. If you do decide to go, I would not think you are a bad mom (not that it really matters what I think, LOL). I just wanted to share my conservative (and some might say old fashion, LOL) view :)

Have fun on your upcoming trip! We leave Saturday!
