Sounds like a nice trip! I LOVE Port Orleans French Quarter, and I've heard this is a wonderful time of year to visit WDW.

You may or may not be able to get a room when you arrive. If not, you can check what you want with bell services, and it will be taken to your room with your luggage when it arrives from the airport. If you do end up waiting for a room, you can call to find out the room number later in the day, and your key will be activated without an additional trip to the front desk. That's nice.

The food court at POFQ is a good one.....we ate there upon arrival last trip. You can also hop on a bus and give Downtown Disney a try. If I had just a half day in a park during the afternoon/evening hours, I'd probably choose Epcot. It's a more relaxed park, and you can "ease" yourself in. Good food all around there, too.

General tips....I'd say just make yourself a basic schedule of the parks. One quick and easy page to look at showing park opening and closing times, parade and show times (ones you might want to see), and your meal times. If you are feeling stressed, you might amplify that with a schedule that is too detailed! You won't be able to see and do everything in this trip, so don't even make yourself nuts trying. Pick out what is most important for everyone at each park and hit those, and use fast pass when you can. Most advise getting to the parks early to get in the most rides easily...and that is true. If you aren't an early riser family, don't worry too much. Maybe just do the early thing a few of the days.

I'd advise packing some wet wipes, hand sanitizer, small snacks / treats, and a tiny first-aid kit in the bag you'll be taking to the parks. I always like to have a bunch of ziploc bags, too.....seems I need those at various times during a WDW trip. And sunblock...don't forget the sunblock! I like the carry the sticks for the kids.....they look like a great big chapstick. It's easy to put on the kids' faces, and it doesn't run into their eyes.

Have a WONDERFUL trip!!!!!

If they have rooms available, you can check in early.
