Just curious if we're allowed to bring our own little life vest (coast guard approved) to the water parks?

Is your 5YO a Boy or girl?

There are PLENTY of "Special" things to do, it just depends on your child's likes and dislikes! Bibbidy, Bobbity, Boutique or Pirates League, then onto a character meal, A pirate cruise, an afternoon Tea, a fireworks cruise, Family Magic Tour, Not so scary Halloween party, Spirit of Alhoa, Hoop De Do, Mickey's Backyard BarBeQue, wow, there are MANY choices! Can you give us a bit more information, how long you are staying, what kind of things you like, your budget? These things will help us weed through the information!

CP for lunch will be perfect for your sons birthday!!! Make sure Disney has the information about DS's birthday being that day on your ADR and I would mention the birthday when you check in as well. I have seen them give out birthday certificates signed by the characters that are really cute so I'm sure he'll love it!!!

You can decorate the room any way you want. Even the doors and windows, mousekeeping won't mind and they should work around it without disturbing anything.

I think a birthday t shirt is a great idea along with the presents. You may be able to arrange a character wake up call on his birthday too (I've never done this but others have so maybe they will chime in.) Here's a link to products available from Disney - I think you have to call for prices and to order. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/celebrations/customizations/
They are a little $$$ though from what I understand, but it might be worth it anyway. However, you'll probably get a birthday cupcake or something special at Crystal Palace for DS.

I'm sure whatever you do will be special to him.

I think just being in WDW for a birthday makes the day feel more magical anyway - you're just surrounded by fun :)
