As far as I know, it's only the main pool that will be closed, the villa pool will still be open for use.

I wouldn't be to bummed about the pool. If this is your children's first visit there is so much to do and see that you probaly will not be swimming that much anyway. That is a really neat resort even without the pool so I wouldn't switch if it was me.

I just got back Saturday from Wilderness Lodge! We had a great time. Although we had a couple of warm days, I found it too cold to swim! We swam once, my DD loved it, of course; but I was turning purple with cold. The pool was heated, but not heated enough for me! The geyser went off and DD had to run over there to see it and by the time we got back in the pool I was shaking.

On our last full day there, I saw one little girl in the pool with her dad standing watching her swim. He was bundled up in a parka and gloves. She was just a crazy kid with a lenient Dad, I guess. She was the only one in the pool.

So, my opinion is that you probably aren't going to be swimming much in January.

I wouls still stay at the Wilderness Lodge. It's an amazing resort, and unless you have a really long vacation, have been several times before or are going in the heat of summer where park hours are longer you're going to be hard pressed to find time to swim anyways. So I wouldn't worry about it at all for a Feb trip.

The Wilderness Lodge Villas are part of the Wilderness Lodge complex and are just off to your right when you go through the main building. The pool for the Villas is nestled over there. The main pool is straight off the main lobby.
