Magical Express and getting luggage

I know this is something that has been discussed before.... We are using Magical Express in August and I just got my yellow tags. I was explaining it to dh and how the bags will arrive after us. We land at 1pm and our plan is to hang at the pool, explore the hotel and then go to our 5:45 ADR at Ohana. I'm planning on bringing a small carry on suitcase with bathing suits and fresh clothes for dinner. Hoping the bags will be there by the time we return from dinner.
Dh looks at me and says "how come we can't just get our own bags and bring them with us to the bus?"
What are the thoughts on this? Has anyone done that with their bags? Has anyone witnessed a problem with people doing this? Would they just put the bags underneath the bus, and we claim them when we get to our resort?
I'm not really stressing about this. Just want to figure out the best thing for us to do.
Thanks for ideas.

The 3 oz limit is only for carry on bags--in your suitcase you can pack whatever you want, they only care about the weight.
Take the ME, you won't regret it.
Assuming your plane actually lands on time, you will be lucky to be out of the airport by 2pm. You may have to wait for a bus going to your resort. It's approximately an hour drive to DW from the airport. The bus stops on a predetermined route, good if your the first resort, can take awhile if your not. I wouldn't plan to be at your resort until at least 3, probably closer to 3:30. Plan an hour to get to Ohana's. It's also a neat resort to look around, so I would plan to be there 45 minutes to an hour before your reservations. Which means you will want to leave your resort around 4pm.
If all things go well on your trip, you should have enough time to get to your room, rest for a few minutes, change clothes and then head to Ohana's. I wouldn't plan to swim that afternoon, maybe after your meal if your kids are still going strong. Even a short swim will add at least an hour after changing into suits, swimming, and then changing into evening clothes.

Instead of carrying everything with you there are a couple of places that you can order ahead from and they will deliver to WDW resorts for you. This way you could order bottled water in bulk and not have to carry it, plus you can get fresh milk, or just buy that on site.
I would personally never be able to persuade my DD to eat cereal made with reconstituted milk (or me either it's totally gross LOL!)
I am sorry I can't remember the web sites off hand but hopefully someone else can, I know a few people here have used them before.

Last year we stayed at ASMovies and did not "buy" a fridge for the room. WHat wh did instead was back a picnic cooler on wheels with several food items. We bought a TSA Lock for it (Around $10 at Wal Mart) and used that as a "checked" bag.
We ordered water, fruit and perishables from WEGOSHOP.com and it was great!
Marge delivered the food to our resort while we were out and bell services broght it to our room. Every morning/ night we'd add ice to our cooler and managed to keep milk and cheese fresh all 6 days we were there!! We always had cold water to drink (We'd add the next day's rations at night and morning when we were adding ice) and dump the water out our door before (Our room overlooked a smallish green area near the parking lot)
If you are on teh DIning plan, you CAN buy 1/2 gallon milk as a snack!
Good luck with whatever you deci!
~Elena (WHo used the empty cooler for dirty clothes the way home!!)
Whoooo Elena now there's a thought...I was planning on checking a small carry-on type suitcase for the food. Was this a hard-sided or soft-sided cooler? How big? We'll be stying for 10 days, but there's only 3 of us...and we might have an upstairs room, but I guess there's always the tub...would you not have to take everything out and rearrange things every time you added ice, though? Hmmm.....
What about, I keep hearing of people bringing bagels for breakfast (a great idea IMO) and Pop Tarts (a treat for DS for sure) -- now I can see having PopTarts without toasting them, but not bagels! Anyone ever tried or know of anyone bringing a toaster to a regular room?? Would that be against fire regulations? (Good as they sound, toasted bagels in the mornin' would NOT be worth the trouble if they're against the rules!)
Thank you!
We camp a fair bit too - but we always have to take fresh milk even on our annual backwoods canoe/camping pilgrimage - luckily we only go for the weekend LOL!

I can't remember where you are staying but all of the moderates now have small fridges in the rooms and you can rent them for the values (although that is a pricey option and a cooler filled with free ice from the ice machines is more economical)

Thanks, Carole. Yep, we're staying at ASMusic, so renting a fridge for the 9 nights would sort of defeat the purpose of bringing food for saving $ particularly on breakfast (maybe not quite as expensive, but yeah). I like the cooler idea in *theory* and am still considering EXCEPT guess who'd be the "default" one in charge of dumping/refilling each night? Yup. I'm already of course the "tour guide" and the "packer", and it's my vacation too you know?! See, DS is my former foster son who's no longer living with us :( so I'm packing all his stuff...and DH will be working not quite 24/7 but you get the idea, at finishing up a bathroom remodel so his daughter and son in law can move in there before our trip...(they just bought a house, a fixer upper *rolls eyes* with DHs help) SO that leaves me in charge of EVERYTHING trip-wise! (Well, except for DH footing much of the bill! LOL) Maybe I'll just put the cooler option out and see if he thinks it's a good idea. If HE does, then maybe I can get him to share the cooler chores, then all we have to do is choose a cooler!
Carole, you're experienced at Disney: Would you bring a hard or soft one? What size? And put ME tags on it and let them handle it all?
it was a hard sided cooler on wheels, "standard" sized...this is not the one we used, but it was simialr: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1287324
We had brough a ton of various sized zip lock bags, and since there was "only" sting cheese, bottles fo water, quarts of milk and OJ, fruit, jar of jelly, and tubes of yogurt in there, it really was fairly easy to empty/ refill.
We did not refridgerate our bread - we kept it in a drawer with the boxes of cereal, cans of pringles, jar of peanut butter, cheese and cracker container thingies, boxes of granola bars, fruit snacks and pop tarts in it.
We also brought a big "sleeve" of styrofoam bowls, paper plates, a pack of plastic ware, paper towels, and a sleeve of disposible cups.
We did not use a toaster in our room, but there is one available for use in the food courts.
we plan on bringing/ ordering the same things this year, with a few modifications and not bringing the cooler since we are staying at a moderate and will have a fridge this year.
Best of luck to you!!!!
~ELena
