MGM or Blizzard Beach? Help me!
| Sun, 03-11-2007 - 9:29am |
Alright, this crazy Water Park option that we got is driving me CRAZY! I want to do both waterparks, because I can't choose one over the other. On Thursday morning, we have breakfast at Chef Mickey's at 9:30, and then no other plans until dinner (5:30 at 50's PTC). If we missed some characters at MGM, should we go back to MGM that morning for characters, or go to Blizzard Beach?
Also, are the characters out later at MGM, where we could catch them around 4 or so, after the parade but before dinner?

Personally we would take Blizzard Beach over MGM,especially if it's a second visit the same trip; but we are big water park fans.
If you are so-so on the waterparks I would play it by ear and see what the weather is like that day before making a decision one way or the other.

lol Steph!
The water park option is driving me cazy too!! (by the way, ou trip is 5/18-5/21) I can't decide between TL and BB (won't have time to do both)and I can't figure out *when* to go to a water park (between EMHs and ADRs)! I'm excited though- I've never been to either TL or BB, so I'm glad to get to try something new!
Good luck with your decision- sorry I can't help! I'll be anxious to see which waterpark you prefer!

Ha! I'm trying desperately to fit them both in, and it's not really working. Part of the problem is that we've never done a water park at all, and I don't know how to choose one. It would be a second morning at MGM, and we'd mostly be going to see characters that we missed.
DH is leaning towards TL if we only do one water park. I was leaning toward BB for Thursday, because of mini-golf being right there and we could do both.
I'm expecting to be at the water park for about 2-3 hours at the most. We'll hit the family raft ride (maybe), the lazy river and the kiddie area.
Keep it coming, I need help!
We went to TL on our honeymoon, pre-kids....so I have no idea what the kiddie area is like. We went to BB when my oldest was 2, and we pretty much lived in the kiddie area there. I can tell you, BB has a nice kiddie area~
We are also topsy-turvy about the water parks now that we have the option added on for free. I am leaning towards BB for my kids. They can both swim, but aren't really all that adventurous. My dh might do some of the "wedgie slides", but I won't do too much. But I showed them the photos of both, and they picked BB.
I also am trying to figure out when to fit it in...I want to take advantage of the Pop pools too....Oh, so much to do, and not enough time!!

I hear ya, not enough time! We've got 9 days to play, and I still can't make it work. I almost think we'd be better off without the wp option, but I don't want to take it off and pay for hopping...........
We saved almost enough with the discount to cover the Illuminations Cruise! Hey, I hadn't thought of that until now.....
okay Carole the big water park fan, LOL. Which one should I do for kids 10,8,7,6,3 and a week form being 2? I can't remember which we did 5 years ago but I'm thinking it was Blizzard Beach.
Thanks for your input, Amy
Though we have not been to Disney World near as many times as most of the people on this board, I just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth. We went to MGM two afternoons on our last trip in June, and it seems like most of the character meet and greets were done for the day by 5pm. I might be wrong since my kids were not (and probably still not) into characters. Our first evening was the last day of Star Wars weekend and almost everything SW related was closed. I know the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground was closed both evenings we were there too. I thought this might help you make your decision. I still can't decide what to do about the WP either, LOL.
Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I would do BB! We've been to both water parks in the past, and I really liked BB! The kiddie area was great and the whole concept of snow at a Florida water park is just so....enticing! We are definitely going to BB when we visit in July.
I'm having trouble remembering the characters at MGM, but it seems to me that we were able to see some later in the day. I could be wrong about that, though!
Good luck with your planning!

That's a tough choice!!
It depends on how much your kids like big waves I think, my DD (8) absolutely adores the big waves at Typhoon Lagoon, if your older kids would like that it would be a good choice for the littles too, as there is a nice beachy area with small "puddles" and a few structures for them, plus the very shallow edge of the lagoon where they could paddle in the smaller leftover waves.
There is a good mixture of bigger rides plus, family and smaller rides, also the shark lagoon where you can actually swim over the top of sharks and rays (if you are brave enough lol! - my DD and DH did this but I declined)
Blizzard has that good play area with the water assault course type of thing too though - sorry I am no help at all in choosing bwteen the two parks LOL!
