OK- We made our reservations for Oct 4-9th(since dd has school off most of the time and will only miss 1 1/2 days)... We are only planning on going to the parks for 3 days(park hopper no exp)... and relaxing the rest...
We will be there for the Halloween party- Should we go Thursday(extra Magic hours) or Friday??? We were leaning toward Thursday. Where should we eat that day- I was thinking of Tony's and hopefully doing Chef Mickey on a non park day- do you need a park ticket to go to Chef Mickey's since it is at Contempo Resort? We are also thinking about the Disney Dining plan option to add for those 3 days.- can you use it until it is up- meaning not all the meal on one day? could we spread them out? It seems like alot of food.. We will have our own kitchen- so we can do breakfast on our own...
Help- I need advice..still have a little while to plan- but just so excited to get started! Thanks!!!
Good to be home-

Hi Jennifer, and welcome!
We went to the Halloween Party (MNSSHP is how it's often referred to here) in 2004 and had a great time! I would go on a Thursday over a Friday, Friday seems to be more crowded for the party. They won't have the evening EMH (extra magic hourse) at MK if there is a MNSSHP going on. The park will close at 6 pm, and only people with party tickets will be allowed in or allowed to stay; they don't make you go out and come back in, you just have to get a wristband by showing your ticket at one of the locations on the map. We ate at Liberty Tree Tavern (LTT) before our party and it was a lot of fun. The characters wear 'costumes', it's really cute. You can do this on a non-park day if you wanted to, you can usually enter the MK around 4 or 4:30 with just the party ticket and not use a day of passes if you wanted to.
You don't have to use a park ticket to eat at Chef Mickey's; you can ride the monorail from the MK to the Contemporary if you want to, or you can walk on the path from the MK as well.
You can't add the dining plan to only part of your trip. It has to be purchased as a package, and you have to get it for each night you're staying. I don't know if you can use it at a DVC resort or not, hopefully someone else will. You may post a question of that if no one answers it here.
You're also well within your time frame to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) for any table service/sit-down meals you want to do. I strongly recommend you make them as soon as you know where you want to eat on what day, as times will go fairly quickly.
If you have anymore questions, please ask!!

We attended the Halloween party on a sold out night (Friday before Halloween). We walked on every ride. So I don't think the day really matters much.
If you are only getting a 3 day park hopper and going to the parks for only 3 days, I don't think you need no expiration. Just my opinion. That is quite a bit extra. You have 14 days from first use of your pass to use the rest of the days.
If you are staying DVC, you can now add dining to your stay. But it has to be for your whole trip as a package including your park tickets. If I am wrong someone will correct me.
Have fun! We are going September 24-30 to take advantage of free dining! Going to the Halloween party too!

I just booked toay for the Sept. 28th Not So Scary Halloween Party. I have one question though. Are the rides in MK operating during the party? I know the park closes at 6 and the party is at 7, just wondering if MK is operating as normal for the party.
