Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Is this a must see? How many of you have done it before and what is your thoughts on it? I'm wondering if it is worth the money because it would be quite pricey for our family of 7 (2 are under 3).
I've done very well on our trip planning so far money wise. I've gotten our condo at a great price and I don't have to pay for any passes because I either have some with days left on them from a few years ago or we've gotten them free from points on our credit card/hotel stays (my husband travels way to much LOL) I'm wondering if this should be a big splurge or should I not...help me decide..convince me...twist my arm....or tell me NO. Thank you!

We went 4 times in early December, and we haven't gone to the party. It sounds really nice, but we couldn't justify spending the money. Aly's never been a napper (gave up naps at 2!), so it would've been from when she got up through the party...even though we usually stayed out until 9, 9:30 on our trips (we'd end at Epcot almost every night which didn't close until 9:30), I think midnight would've been pushing it. We were very fortunate in that she's only ever had one (very small!) meltdown in the parks, so I'm glad we never pushed it. We also don't like "downtime" days. We were "forced" into a downtime day on our Dec 2002 trip (downpours every day from Sunday to Thursday) and were MISERABLE...and that day included going to the Florida Mall and eating out.
But I hear it's really fun, so those that can justify spending the money, I'm sure it's worth it. I would definitely recommend not doing a park that day if you do choose to do it, though, and not planning anything early (character breakfast, EMH at MK) the next morning.

We went this past Christmas and loved it!
My family has been to the MVMCP 3 times now....and we will definitely get tickets again this year if we can make another December trip. We would not miss it for the world!
We had one bad year though because of weather. It was a terribly rainy week, and both the parade and the fireworks were rained out. A real bummer! In hindsight, we wished we would have waited to get the tickets until that day and not ahead of time. We went during the week, and there were still tickets available the day of the party. I know that is not always the case for the weekends though. We were still able to ride Space Mountain over and over again with no wait during the rainy night, so my kids were happy.
We are a family of 6, so I can understand your concerns about the cost. We can only do so much and have to decide what is most important to the kids. They could care less about fancy food or character meals, so we save on spending that way.
