We went to MNSSHP in 2004, and we had a blast. It was the last night of our trip, and very worth it to us. We mainly went for the Halloween parade, the special fireworks, and the atmosphere. We started with an early dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern, and the characters were wearing masks; it was cute. I don't remember that we really rode any rides, maybe Buzz Lightyear, since we had to ride every time we walked past it for DS3 (at the time). I didn't see as many trick or treat places as I expected, but then again, I don't know what i really expected. There were certainly plenty of t-o-t places, and they were giving out really good candy (rolls of Sprees, regular sized boxes of Nerds, etc).
We would definitely go back if we could, but with the oldest DS in school now, it's not an option.
We've been to MNSSHP twice -- Halloween night 2004 and in late September 2006. We loved it both times. The first time there were 25 of us and almost everybody dressed up -- it was a lot of fun to experience the "spooky" atmosphere and the parade was great. The headless horsemen rides out ahead of the parade and my DD was fascinated by that. We did some rides both times -- you have to do the Haunted Mansion and see the ghost lounging on the lawn!! We also trick or treated, but not a whole lot. Do I think it was worth the money -- yes! Also, you can get into the park with your party tickets at 4 p.m., so it's possible to save a day on you hopper passes by using that day to lounge by the pool or hit DTD. Our first time, we did Chef Mickey's for a late breakfast, went back to play in the pool and then went to the park for the party and it was great. Second time we were only there for 4 days, so we hit Epcot during the day and then went to the party which was a bit exhausting. If you can afford it, I'd say go for it -- I think you'll all get a kick out of it.

Hope this helps, Steph
This will be our 5th year in a row going to MNSSHP, so of course I think it's worth it.
