MNSSHP questions

I have a couple of questions about MNSSHP. We are considering going Sep 15, which I believe is the first date this year for the party.

Do you all think it will be more crowded or less crowded because it is the first date?

The WDW online calendar says that MK is open until 9p on the 15th the party is scheduled to start at 7 though. Do you think this is an error with the calendar or do you think that it will be open for two hours for regular park guests along with those who paid for the party? Same situation is showing up on the calendar for the party on the 22nd. But the 29th hours look like they should on a hard ticketed event night.

Also, we are supposed to eat at Chef Mickey’s at 630 on the 15th which means we would be eating right when the party starts. Do you think I should move dinner earlier or later?

Even more importantly, knowing what the weather is like in Orlando in September, I need costume ideas for a 4 and 1 year old (girls) that won’t cause heat exhaustion, which I think removes all princesses from the running. Does every single little girl wear a princess costume? And does that earn me a “terrible mommy” nomination if I don’t let mine?

Thanks for you input,
Jennifer

Hi! We loved the Halloween Party. IMHO it was much better than the Christmas party. I think it will be less crowded since it is not that close to Halloween. No, not all the kiddos are wearing princess gear ;-)
My daughter didn't, but then she has never been the 'princess' type. I think you might want to move your dinner reservations a bit earlier if you can. The little ones can wear out fast at those parties and, even thought it's open really late, you might find you want to leave before it closes, so to maximize your time, get there early :-)

Jennifer,

If I were you I would make dinner reservations earlier. We too are doing Chef Mickey's right before we go to the party on the 29th at 5:30. You can get into the party earlier too-sometimes around 4 or 5. But you are limited to tomorrowland.
The first 2 September dates you are talking about were just added, so I think that is why the hours calendar isn't right. The park will close at 6 to non party goers.
As far as costumes we are from WI and all or most of the costumes up here are geared towards the cold weather we get at Halloween. So with that being said, we didn't dress up for the party in 2004 because we would have died. Plus no costume makes it easy to get on and off the rides. There were a lot of people dressed and some not. I definately didn't feel out of place not being dressed up.

My 5 year old DD has been wearing a crown or tiara or whatever you call that thing every day for two weeks now. LOL! Perhaps you could have her wear not a complete costume, but just the crown or something. She could still be a princess, just not too hot or wearing something difficult for rides. My girl attended daycare this morning in her shorts, tee shirt, tiara and "high heels". DH took her & couldn't convince her to give up the heels. He gave her sneakers to the teacher for later. LOL!

We have this thing at the zoo in St Louis called Boo at the Zoo each year before Halloween, it is a nightmare, you wait in line for 20 minutes so your kid can get a roll of smarties or a tootsie roll. I guess I am a little gun shy. I am afraid that it will be similar. Is it? I swore I would never go back to the Boo at the Zoo, which was free by the way, and I can’t see spending $150 for the same type of cruel and unusual punishment. Please tell me it is not as bad.
